Look, the point of a mandate isn’t to dictate how people should live their lives — it’s to prevent some people from gaming the system. Under the Obama plan, healthy people could choose not to buy insurance, then sign up for it if they developed health problems later. This would lead to higher premiums for everyone else. It would reward the irresponsible, while punishing those who did the right thing and bought insurance while they were healthy.

Have you ever lived under Universal Healthcare? I have. So don't be spouting off that Hillary has no idea what she is doing. She is bang on.

Universal Healthcare means that EVERYONE is included. And 'garnishing wages' is your sly way of twisting what the truth is. The truth is that everyone would pay a 'premium' based on ability to pay. It's no different than the NHS in the UK and many other European countries.

Socialised medicine is not free. It never has been, but everyone does share in its cost.

I keep hearing the arguments that Clinton will 'garnish wages' to make us pay for it. That's a sly way of saying that: We will all pay premiums for it.....based on ability to pay.

It's not much different than the NHS in the UK where EVERYONE is included and payment is based on ability to pay. You can also go private if you want more control over certain areas of your healthcare.

Just think about how much up front $$ it would take to enforce the mandate.

If you'd studied Obama's plan in detail, you'd know there's a prevention component for people who are healthy. One of the things we need to do in this county is practice preventive medicine instead of paying the costs on the back end when people get sick from conditions that could have been prevented. We need to change not just how people are insured, but how they are maintained, just like a car.

I have paid for healthcare from my employer, the larger the group of employees the lower the individual cost is

The senate has 100 senators, image if say, 1/3 of the population sign up right away, that adds 100 MILLION people

the per person cost will go way down

most people want preventative medicine, it will cost less to be insured than it does to just go in for routine preventative tests, so this is not a threat to the success of the program
