Hi, I am an Obama supporter.
First let me say that my opinion is objective. Completely objective (despite the fact that it is an opinion -go figure.)
Anyway, I just want to say that I personally know of 2 people that aren't going to vote for Obama because he is black (although they won't admit it.)
So, my question is: Does this mean that everyone that bashes Obama is a racist?
As for me, I don't think so. I just wanted to put that out there for consideration (oh, and 30 recs)

Many black people are so disillusioned that they feel Obama has no chance in a racist country like ours and so are voting against him.

We may not like it, but its out there.
I mean, look at the Alabama rassmussen poll yesterday. It stated 50% of white voters in alabama have an unfavourable view of Obama. That says a lot really about that state.
I honestly would not be surprised if we find out on Tuesday night that the polls were wrong and many people who said they would vote Obama didnt.

38. They can't touch Obama on the Religious Connections, because that would draw attention to |
|
the WH Visitors' Logs which her BuShitler has made Cheney's Private Property.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington - CREW has an FOIA suit for the WH visitors' logs from 2000 - 2004. They've been Classified, something quigte unusual for WH Visitors Logs. A Judge recently ruled that these WH VLs are actually the property of the Secret Service.
CREW wanted to know what RELIGIOUS leaders visited WH 2000-2004. So Obama's "Religious Problem" isn't a problem at all, especially if someone would just ask Reps about this in a debate . . .

10. Hmmm. I know people, and I'll say that I also agree, that I will not vote for |
|
the guy and I'll just say that never once was race even mentioned in these conversations.
Most all of us are unhappy with getting stuck with Hillary, but the fact that she is a woman didn't factor into those converstions either.
Go figure. Not everyone fits the stereotype that Obama supporters would like to believe is the reason he won't get our votes.
But don't sweat it, it'll all be decided soon. And other than the resentment of millions of people that this damn election has turned into an affirmative action popularity contest, none of it will matter a damn bit.

When people don't seem to get it, you've got to wonder why and help them if possible, without insulting their shortcomings.
Some people don't get it for (many) Other Reasons, some of which I share and other stuff that just completely passes me by, such as Sports.

16. 1st point: You can be against someone without "bashing" them. |
|
Just because someone says they are going to vote for Hillary doesn't mean that person is bashing Obama.
2nd....no, people can be against Obama for any number of reasons. Race is just one of them that is being used (mainly by Hillary supporters, who like to make race part of the race, in my view).

25. No, not everyone who bashes Obama is a racist |
|
and even people who won't vote for him because he's black aren't necessarily racist. It depends on the real underlying reason. If they think a black man can't be a good President, then yes, they're racists.
If they don't vote for him because they believe a black man can't WIN in America, that's not necessarily racist as much as acknowledging that racism exists. I think they're wrong, but that's a non-racist explanation.

36. You say you "know" that their reason for not voting for Obama |
|
is that he is black, "although they won't admit it". What reasons did they give to you, if any? Why are you convinced that these two people aren't being truthful with you about their voting preference for this election?
I'd daresay most progressive Democrats would have other reasons besides race or gender for choosing a different candidate from two top-runners. I'd expect the proportion of racists or misogynists among progressives to be very low. The same can not be said of the electorate as a whole, though. There definitely will be people declining to vote for a black man (or a woman, for that matter) in the General. The question is, how many of those could be expected to vote for a progressive or even a moderate Democrat under any circumstances, regardless of the race or gender of the candidate? In my opinion, not enough to make any difference at all in the final outcome of the GE. Most racists or misogynists are going to vote for the most conservative candidate on the ticket who is also white and male. It's looking like that will be McCain, but even if the Democrats had nominated a white male, he still wouldn't get most of those votes.

37. I went to a John Kennedy rally |
|
in 1960 and the enthusiasm for him was electrifying much like what I see at Obama's rallies today. I do think the race issue is overplayed. There will be those who vote for him because he is black and those that will vote against him because he is black but the great majority of us fall in between. I like Obama for much the same reason I liked Kennedy. He is young, super bright, progressive and he represents the future. I am 60 yrs old and I don't wish to return to the Clinton drama of the 90's. I admire both of them but I really do not want to go there again.
