McCain/Rice: Is this tough ticket to beat or what?
McCain appealing to Indys, while Rice will try to appeal to women and AA voters.

How do we run against this ticket?

1. Easy as pie. They won't pick Rice; she's Bush baggage.
If Rice is on the ticket, this becomes a referendum on Bush. If it's a referendum on Bush, 2008 is an Obama/Clinton landslide.

3. I don't think they'll pick her, either
She has no record to run on as a member of the Bush cabinet - a disasterous domestic attack while she was NSA and a disasterous foreign policy record as S of S. Our VP candidate could chew her up and spit her out in a debate.

2. I don't think Rice will do it.
She will be making herself vulnerable to questions about her performance as Nat'l Security Advisor pre-9/11 and Iraq war.

I almost wish she would run so we could destroy her unearned reputation just like we did Rudy's.

4. McCain is going to pick Lindsey Grahm.
He needs a well known southern conservative to have any shot at the right wing base.

6. If rice comes out of the closet would gays support her?
I doubt it - but a black lesbian would a formidable opponent for progressives.

9. It won't happen. mccain will choose a moderate VP nominee
He knows he cannot win a national election without independents, who will not subscribe to the hard Christian right agenda

If Hillary gets the nomination she will have to nominate someone like Wes Clark to counter mccain, and also appeal to the independents

If Obama gets the nomination, he will have to nominate a well-respected experienced moderate for the same reason
