Edwards asks to stay on North Dakota Ballot /Kucinich also! |
|
Candidates fight for delegates in ND Dem, GOP caucuses By The Associated Press The Associated Press - Saturday, February 02, 2008
During Tuesday's North Dakota presidential caucuses, both Democratic and Republican candidates are fighting for a share of the state's delegates to their respective national conventions.
This is a summary of what's at stake:
___
DEMOCRATS
The votes of 13 of North Dakota's 21 delegates to the Democratic National Convention will be apportioned according to Tuesday's results. To qualify for delegates, a candidate must get votes from at least 15 percent of caucus participants.
The Democratic caucus ballot lists five candidates: Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Barack Obama, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich. There is also a line for write-in votes.
Both Edwards and Kucinich wanted their names listed on North Dakota's ballot, even though they both recently dropped out of the race.

Real progressive politics is going to need more than just one visible campaign every four years. Conservatives meet every sunday in church.

from Edwards web site.... Edwards votes in NJ do count Mares in Diaries 2/02/2008 at 10:52 PM EST
After reading what I knew to be misleading statements by poster Caryn Web on this forum, where she cited NJ State Senator Richard J Codey as inferring that votes in NJ would not count, nor would they win him delegates, I decided to find out for myself. Googling the news, and reading the NJ Dem Committee's site revealed no press release or news item on the subject, plus I knew it would be up there with election fraud for them to pull something like this.. I decided to risk getting balled out, and telephoned the state senator. I found his number and called. He told me that he never made any such statement. That he respects Edwards and that any vote for Edward would count.
So please do not allow anyone to tell you different. Edwards campaign is suspended, not ended, he hasn't made any firm decision as yet. Your vote for Edwards will be counted, and it would be a vote for the issues that Edwards has made paramount in this campaign. Vote your interests, not your fears, people!
