Dissing the Universal Health Care dream.
How easily dreams die.

One of our candidates is now dissing the other because they don't think health care coverage needs to be for everyone.

Reminds me of when the great JFK challenged us to go to the moon, but said people could "opt-out" of their part of that tax obligation if they didn't think it was necessary.

:sarcasm:

2. Me paying for your emergency room/hospital bill if you get in an accident
is not my dream either. But I don't want to let you die.

4. Wages are garnished
to pay those hospital bills too, but I guess the insured either forget or never knew that.

3. Edwards' mandate was AFTER his plan was implemented
He didn't base the costs and success of his plan on mandates either.

5. The national dialogue should be focussed on universal health care.
We should be talking about that eight-year-old boy whose mother couldn't afford an eighty-dollar tooth extraction. The boy DIED.

We should be talking about the man who went fifty years without being able to speak, because he couldn't afford surgery to correct his palate.

We should be talking about WHY we need universal health care. And how much better off America will be.

Instead, Barack Obama has hijacked the dialogue to scare people about "mandates." This is pure, self-serving drivel. This man has chosen a path that harms America, harms Americans, and he's using fear to drive Americans into voting against their own best interests.

Barack Obama, I believe you have done some good things in your life. This negates ALL OF THEM.

6. Can you imagine "opting out" of Social Security?
It wouldn't be much of a system if people didn't have to pay into it until they were ready to retire.

7. That's certainly the Republican's dream.
Universal means everyone has to participate -- even if they'd rather buy a new X-box instead.

8. Great point. Either it is a Democratic principle, or it isn't.
Many (if not all) states require you to carry insurance to drive.

These Obama/republican talking points are getting out of hand.
