would be talking about the tunnel from the White House to the Vatican and swearing they'd actually seen it being dug or driven through it.:eyes:

They'd probably be writing more about his family scandals
and complaining that he isn't liberal enough.
Oh, and he lacks experience.

22. Your post brings to mind a related question I've been pondering...
when I was posting about how my parents campaigned for Kennedy. I started wondering why, since organized labor was by far the most important issue in our household (Dad being a Machinist who later became a union rep) and Humphrey, whom they loved, was by far the progressive champion of workers' rights. Did my folks get swept up by Kennedy's charisma? They were such pragmatists I can't imagine so. Or was it that my mother was so dedicated to the Catholic Church (at that point in her life) that she would put aside every other consideration to help a Catholic gain the White House? Why am I asking you, lol. Well, they're both long gone now and I never thought to ask them while I had the chance. Just something I've been chewing over while wondering who they would have gone with in this primary...

And a few minutes ago, I cited Adlai, Humphrey and Muskie in reference to this whole “take my toys and go home” attitude in this thread.

13. He would be slaughtered for running from the Right
He out flanked Nixon from the right by raising an alarm about a so called "missile gap" with the Soviets, that quietly went away after JFK won. A lot of DUers would have wanted to give Adlai Stevenson another run at it. We really get attached to candidates after they first win our loyalty.

And I like both JFK and Stevenson by the way.

I agree with that statement, and, all in all, Sen. Obama has maintained my enthusiasm for our nation's future with him leading it. I think anything that he has said that is considered pandering to the right will be forgotten, as he will show his true liberal colors in office. He is not the conservative that some paint him to be, just as JFK was not. So many are not willing to give Obama a chance, what if we had never given JFK the chance?

8. JFK is high on hope, short on substance.
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 03:36 PM by Drunken Irishman
Vote Senator Humphrey, he has the experience to lead from day one.

Kennedy has only been in the senate 7 years. Humphrey has been there for 15. Kennedy is an empty suit, peddling false hope. If you want someone who can actually get it done, Humphrey is you guy!

14. McCain bombed people from 10,000 feet and spent 7 years in prison.
Kennedy swam miles towing a injured crewman.

And, as our proud friend stated, that automatically means you're a candidate of substance.

How JFK WAS still alive but living in the Vatican for safety reasons?

And I think a tunnel from the WH was somehow involved. Don't remember if the tunnel employed alien beings from alternate galaxies.

26. Besides JFK being a tool of the Vatican, inexperienced,...
and a DINO, his wife was too much the French model and his family fortune came from bootlegging every bottle of Scotch coming in during Prohibition. Besides, he cheated on his hot wife. What kinda guy would fool around when he had Jackie at home? What will the Republicans say about that kinda stuff?

Oh, and his Senate seat was bought with that Scotch money.

Vote Gus Hall!

(or Harold Stassen)

28. If Jesus was running he wouldn't be liberal enough either.
I love the DU community, but I realized early on that most of us are WAY far left of the mainstream.

Things like PNAC and LIHOP are completely not a part of most Dem's everyday vocabulary, and DLC means next to nothing in most places. I will say that I honestly think that Carter and Bill Clinton would have faced a similar fate on here had DU been around at the time.

YMMV.
