1. Hillary really doesn't get it , the health care think, but it doesn't matter because
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 04:05 PM by Cleita
she won't get any further with Congress than she did back during Bill's presidency. If she does, then it will really divide the nation into classes of haves and have nots. I think it would make her a one term President. It's time she she really looks into single payer seriously. I don't know how she's going to pay back her big donors by cutting them out of the $$$ flow but she will have to figure out something.

7. your post cracks me up as it is lacking in historical knowledge
Clinton, if anyone, knows exactly what the Congress will do. Remember the 90's? When she had an awesome plan, but WE allowed the Republican Congress to vilify her (with the help of the media).

If anyone does not "get it" its Obama, who continues to blame Clinton for the Republican's attacks on her health care plan.

20. you may want to go back and look at what happened.
It was not Clinton's fault. It was the republicans who were so set on Clinton accomplishing anything that they vilified her.

And Obama will have no easier a time of it.

22. What happened first were the Harry and Louise ads put
out by the Republican health care lobbyists. But also, the requisite number of Democrats were not on board because the bill was flawed and overbloated. It was not a good bill.

2. Methinks "faux outrage" is becoming a meaningless term.
Inaccurately applied and overused to the point of triteness.

laughable if it didn't work, but the masses are too stupid to see past the crap.

getting behind Obama could see what the supporters on this board are like. It would show them the arrogance he brings to the table.

I fully expect a most of the Obama supporters to cop an attitude of superiority should he become the nominee....and I think it will have very profound consequences.....

5. SS and Medicare are single payer, right?
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 04:07 PM by Oregone
There is a big difference when you are forcing Americans to subsidize knowingly corrupt and irresponsible private insurance companies.

12. The problem with single payer, is that it won't pass.
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 04:22 PM by wlucinda
Hillary's plan is setup to circumvent a lot of the previous criticisms of a national health care plan, and make it easier to move through congress.

6. Of course not. Obama supporters are never wrong or "faux".
Only Hillarybots are wrong; those of the Obama movement have learning experiences.

And that evil witch Hillary is going to garnish our wages; Obama merely seeks payroll deductions. And he wants to give us Choice.

Get with the program.

14. It does not matter which candidate you prefer, but it is unfair to dismiss
Hillary's hard work on Healthcare legislation during Bill's presidency. The poster above is correct that we did not stand strong for her, and consequently we let the GOPers villify her and her plan. So no more right wing agenda on DU please.

17. It's a smart way to pay for a mandated plan.
I see the outrage as correlated to not wanting a mandated plan. Otherwise, a payroll deduction is how you collect the money for the service (i.e. Social Security, Medicare).

And there is a plan that does just that and it's sitting in committee in Congress right now. It's H. R. 676. Here are some links.
