The Super Bowl
I just overheard Terry Bradshaw saying this on the TV in the next room:

"This is a historic moment. One of these two teams will win the Super Bowl. If the Patriots win, they will be the first team ever to go 19-0. If the Giants win, it will be the greatest upset in history!"

Why have we allowed politics - our very futures and the future and well-being of the planet and all of the people on it - be reduced to the tawdry and trivial level of this kind of media circus? Why are we trading away our leverage and power to be lulled, patted on the head, entertained, patronized and soothed, and why are we allowing our emotions to be so shamelessly manipulated?

I won't be rooting for either team, because that clouds one's judgment and perceptions and makes the viewing much more stressful. When you aren't emotionally controlled by loyalty to one team or the other, you can see much more of the game and you can see what is actually happening much more clearly.
