Do you remember these images? (Pic HEAVY)
Do you remember these images of rapture and joy for “W” the “President”?

Oh my! How times have changed!

Most of those people wouldn’t be seen now with a W or Bush/Cheney button on their shirt or sticker on their car.

The Republicans had it ALL – they had finally wrestled and cheated their way to the place where they had control of EVERY branch of government, and then inarguably and catastrophically proved just how much they despise civil service and governing, and how utterly inept and incompetent they are across all facets of federal government.

They spent and spent more. They borrowed and borrowed more. And then for good measure, they gave the entire treasury away to their corporate cronies and PNAC/military industrical complex buddies. Anything left, they gave to the oil guys in corporate tax breaks. They cut and cut again the programs that most of us would be willing to pay a few tax dollars for – certainly most at least would be willing to give up just one super-duper-stupor-pooper F-2025 worldbustin' broco-bustin; bunker-busting superbomber for the sake of the children, the little guy, the downtrodden.

And so, so many of those former avid, rabid, vapid W supporters had the truth dawn on their psyches like an arachidonic cascade – the Republicans simply don’t give a flying fuck about you!

So, they shifted a little left two years ago, and they’ve shifted a little more left, and then after a few more debates, again a little more left. And thank God almighty, they’re coming! And here we see the hand-painted signs being carried by the formerly uninvolved, the sleeping complacent -- who paid next to no attention before because the teevee was tuned to Idol and the iPod was too loud, and their twenty-second attention spans were engaged in entertainment too distracting, more ENGAGING! But the're engaged now. So, here they come – and more fully aware and involved in the election process this time. They come by the tens of thousands.

To set things right or at least start them in the right direction…

Who is coming? The youth with all their energy, the mature giving it one more chance with all their wisdom, the moms and dads at ages in-between who want more for the next generation, coming with the child on their shoulders, the professionals who didn't go to eight years of school for this bum deal, and the workers who just want to bargain for any kind of a better deal, the elite who care about more than themselves and the down-to-earth who bring a special kind of compassion, the never-voted-before, the single, the widowed, the jaded and the wholly inspired.

They’re coming. They’re coming in droves. It’s practically a stampede now, so brace yourselves!

So, how exciting is THIS?

There’s something happening here.

There may be some party squabbling right now and still to come, but you can’t deny that the level of enthusiasm and involvement. We've seen record primary turnout and unbelievable enthusiasm.

What an encouraging sign for November! There’s something happening here.

Take a few moments to be inspired...then let's all get back to work.

5. Excellent post. But, Bush still has that base that loves him - 70% of Republicans.
Or as I like to call them, "pod people."

Ya know, like the ones who would make good camp guards for the rest of us.

6. We gotta work harder to get the "never voted before"
because those people need us. The pod people? Well, we just need one more new voter to counter each one of them.
