Does anbody have confirmation that Governor Bill Richardson has just endorsed Hillary Clinton? |
|
NPR apparently had a news item on it according to a poster in another blog.

2. If he did, it's super-bad timing... as this is Super Bowl Sunday... |
|
and Edwards is probably going to endorse Obama tomorrow, when people are actually paying attention.

And again this is 2nd hand information at best and I am stunned that NPR would break a story like this. We'll see if it's true or not.

12. The timing on his withdrawel from the race was botched, too. |
|
So, it is probably true, probably leaked.

3. He endorsed Clinton months ago, even when running. Hoping for the Veep slot. |
|
Richardson was always going to go for Hillary. Just a question of when.
And that's fine, and congratulations. I'm sure it will help. But this former and future Michigander lost all respect for him when he talked about going after Great Lakes water.
He won't be campaigning for her in the Midwest, I guarantee you.

4. no surprise, if true. i think it's to be expected since he was a Clinton |
|
cabinet member. If it's true that Obama's caught up, and by some accounts surpassed HRC in NM polling, I figured this endorsement would come just before Super Tuesday to slow down any perceived momentum on Obama's part.

7. Maybe Clinton saw those New Mexico poll number and said "Bill, we need you to come on board now!" |
|
And that Maria endorsement of Obama may have influenced the Clinton's to put heavy pressure on Richardson. They probably held him hostage until he agreed!
Expect him to endorse her on her Hallmark infomercial tomorrow.

You mean the one with 207 university students? Get a grip, there hasn't been a major poll there in NM from any of the reputable pollsters this month. If you have a link, please provide one. Peace be with you.

Richardson is Ok , but basically still a corporate , moderate Dem, who admittedly is progressive on some issues. By the way, Richardson is a good example of why even a middle of the road Dem is still better than a repub ( i.e. --I can't stand HRC but will vote for her in the GE if she's our nominee, no matter how reluctant that vote will be)...this example is regarding judicial appointments, and as many misgivings as I have about both HRC and Obama, they won't be appointing right wing lunatics to the judiciary. Richardson's most recent NM supreme court appointment is Charles Daniels; a guy who is very progressive and the very definition of integrity.( disclaimer: Charlie is a good friend, but part of why he's a friend is that I have so much respect for him both personally, and professionally). The moral of the story being that court appointments are enough of a reason to vote Democratic even if you're as sick as I am with the media "star-power"- driven candidates we're saddled with .

13. Daily Kos has rumors of a huge Clinton endorsement |
|
A poster who is inside the Clinton camapaign or who has a friend inside the Clinton campaign rather says that Clinton has a huge endorsement tommorrow. Richardson is OK but to use the word "huge." I wonder if it might not be John Edwards.

But then again, wasn't the word "huge" tossed around right before Waters endorsed? Seems in politics people play up the word "huge" when they really mean "so so".
I'd LOVE an Edwards endorsement though, but I'm not holding my breath.

22. You have to understand that a politician's world is different from ours. |
|
In their world, someone like Bill Richardson is big stuff. Similarly, in the corporate world, if I told you A.G. Lafley was going to give a speech in New York to a conference, you might say "Who?" but to them the CEO of Procter and Gamble is a big deal.

25. Richardson lost me when he talked about bringing water from the Great Lakes |

to New Mexico. It would be a huge engineering job, not to mention the ecological devastation involved. Apparently Gov. Richardson has never heard of the Aral Sea.
