It's my understanding from a Barack supporter who posted on a thread today that Barack tried to go with the "Hope for change" or "Hope and change" or whatever it is, and the crowd didn't want to go along, they wanted to stick with "Yes we can." His efforts fell flat, so he let them carry on with the chanting.

I hate advertising gimmicks, and slogans are gimmicks, like Nike's "Just do it." People who watch television can probably offer a lot more examples. It's like pretty gift-wrapping paper. You don't really know what's inside.
