Hillary is not qualified to be the nominee. She is a gaffe machine. |
|
So I woke up this morning on the West Coast preparing for an uneventful Super Bowl Sunday. Lo and behold everyone is talking about Hillary garnishing wages. It's a right-wing talking point of course, so I look for the source of many RW talking points: Drudge. My jaw went slack at seeing a link to the AP quoting her directly as saying she would garnish wages for those who refused to participate in her health care plan. Not just garnishing, "go after" those wages. OMFG is she out of her motherf*cking mind? She just repeated a mantra from Freeperland used to diparage Democrats... on national TV... verbatim.
She is not qualified to represent us. Yes, a slip of the tongue can cost us an election. We can't have a gaffe machine who appears to diminish MLK, uses RW language verbatim to describe her OWN FUCKING POLICIES, and whose outspoken spouse can't control himself with Jesse Jackson remarks.
McCain will play that clip over and over again. "Hillary- going after your wages" will be his campaign slogan, a quote directly from her mouth seemingly taken in context. How many more times will she gaffe like this after she wins the nomination? Nobody knows, and that's what scares me. I never thought she'd say something this incredibly stupid. She is not fit to be the candidate.

17. I don't think there can be any doubt... |
|
...that uttering the words, "go after people's wages", was a colossal blunder.
That would destroy her in a general election.

3. This is more than a gaffe. The mandates themselves are stupid. |
|
You can dress it up as "pre-tax healthcare revenue enhancements" or somesuch but it's still Hillarycare being forced on people.

6. If Hillary is the nominee, we will hear that line over and over and over and over |
|
We'll end up longing for the days of "I actually voted for it before I voted against it."

10. I was thinking the same thing. This was to a national audience, though. |

They will replay that gaffe far more than the Kerry ad.

Chances are Axelrod has to choreograph the O-man's movements now as well as write his lines.

9. Peoples healthcare premiums are taken out of their paychecks |
|
already at many many companies.
Either you support the idea of universal healthcare or you don't. Either you believe that everyone should pay in to the system based on a sliding income scale and their ability to pay or you don't. Hillary believes this is a core democratic value. And that her plan makes it affordable for everyone.

13. It's voluntary at those companies. This is a universal insurance employment act. |
|
She sounds like she is forcing healthcare on us. I want universal healthcare, not universal insurance scam.

11. There's no question Hillary just lost the General Election today. |
|
The GOP will be all over her words like white on rice.
Nominating her would be suicide for the Democratic Party.

14. It was a terrible gaffe. And a terrible time to make it... |
|
I'm certain that it was the topic of discussion at more than one Super Bowl party, and two days before Super Tuesday, nonetheless.
On the other hand, I'm sure that Wal-Mart made a killing on ammunition in the Midwest today. :eyes:

Universal health care can't work without mandates. Mandates need some method of enforcement.
Obama can't run away from this issue. Hillary is smart to give the bad news up front. Obama will be caught later and people will lose trust in him.
Universal health care is very popular. Polls show large majorities say they are willing to pay more to have everybody insured. John McCain won't have a health care plan that amounts to anything. He's the one who will be in trouble on health care.
The mandates will be used for fake outrage uproars by the right but nobody will care except for them. All reasonable people understand that benefits have to be paid for.
