It's a sad day when Obamanians treat an Oprah Winfrey & Maria Shriver endorsement as the holy grail |
|
of American politics.
If someone is pathetic enough to need a daytime talk show host to tell them who to vote for, should that person really be voting?
I prefer endorsements that actually mean something; endorsements that actually have some substance to them, when the endorser actually tells you WHY they are endorsing the candidate. Who sounds like they have more grasp of the issues at stake in this election: Oprah Winfrey, or Maxine Waters, Chair of the Out of Iraq Now Caucus?

The pundits even say there is not much difference between Hillary and Obama on policy positions. That's why most people are concentrating on these silly issuesand try to make a big deal out them.

|
go all the way to Africa to build a school, when we need them right here in our own backyard. And as an African-American, I was disappointed with her explanation. She actually said that kids here are more interested in iPods, than learning.
What? How can she generalize all children here like that? I know plenty of children here who want to learn and get the best education possible.
I was disgusted by that comment.

Oprah helped them out a lot when he was running for Gov. of California. Oprah also had a pro-Iraq war show too. The woman should not get invovlved with politics. Surprising that she doesn't "stick up" for women and instead campaigns against the first serious female candidate and also for a groper/harasser of women.

just sick of the "hype" on these threads. Makes one want to vomit. When is this guy going to start talking about real stuff. Come on already--parading TV talk show hosts and the Kennedy ilk is getting "tired". Is that all the Obama has.. . . where is the substance. Maxine Waters is clear political and important endorsement for our country, (who, by the way) got little or no coverage whatsoever. What's Oprah's claim --a billionaire with a talk show. Get real. Come on, there is a difference between the highest office in the world and "tabloid" politicians who are more interested in celebs than issues. Just plain tired of the constant tripe being thrown on these threads. Next we'll be hearing who farted the loudest in the Kennedy family. Enough already. Even on the DU homepage, they don't hesitate to slap on Obama's endorsements, I have yet to see Maxine Waters endorsement on the home page, or the endorsements of Fire Fighters of New York, or Nurse's Association of America, or any the long list Clinton accrued. Guess they don't count, after all, they are just ORDINARY people. Go Hillary. Myself, my family and friends are all behind you on Tuesday.

Tribe is probably the most respected Constitutional scholar in the country, and he endorsed Obama. C'mon, get real. Although Oprah isn't in Tribe's league intellectually, if Hillary had bagged her endorsement you all know damn well you'd have been falling all over yourselves with excitement. Tribe is huge in political and academic circles; but Oprah, in an entirely different way, is nothing to sneer at.
