New Quinnipiac poll: NJ. Clinton edges out Obama 48 to 43
In New Jersey, Clinton edges Obama 48 - 43 percent among likely Democratic voters, compared to 49 - 32 percent January 23.

McCain tops Romney 52 - 30 percent among likely Republican voters, compared to 29 - 14 percent January 23. Huckabee and Texas Congressman Ron Paul get 6 percent each.

"Sen. Obama has put together a coalition of blacks and independents to dramatically narrow the gap in just the last few days in New Jersey, but the big question remains: Will there be enough of these new, young, first time voters showing up to pull a surprise on Super Tuesday?" said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

"Sen. Obama has gained yardage in New York, but the clock is running out and Sen. Clinton still has the home field advantage," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

1. I read something somewhere that Jersey allows unaffiliated
voters to vote. Is that true? If so, that favors Obama. But I think NJ is a lot closer than some of the recent polls showing double-digit leads for Clinton suggest. Still think she wins though.

2. I'm not sure about the unaffiliated voters.
However, the New Jersey polls are all over the place right now. I'm not sure who will win.

3. Unaffiliated voters absolutely can vote in New Jersey...
Just registered Independents (and Republicans, obviously) cannot. I've been walking around New Jersey reminding voters of this.

Unaffiliated voters comprise 30-40% of all NJ voters.

I'm off to see if this poll includes unaffiliateds. If it does not, Obama should actually be ahead in New Jersey. Unaffiliateds have been breaking more for Obama.

5. Guys, this poll does NOT include unaffiliated voters...PLEASE READ
That is very, VERY good for Obama. If he's only 6 points behind in registered Democrats, he is actually ahead in New Jersey overall.

If anyone, has any time at all to PLEASE phonebank New Jersy, please do so and specifically remind unaffiliated voters that they CAN vote tomorrow. Voters there should have recently received a sample ballot that tells them both their affiliations ("N" means unaffiliated) and their polling place.

Shit, it doesn't look like I'll be getting much done at work today. ;)
