Barack Obama has "united" his supporters against President Clinton, Paul Krugman, and Joe Wilson |
|
And against Universal Health Care too.
The cult of personality is amazing to watch.

7. I am fully in favor of tax-supported, single-payer healthcare. I think mandates for private |
|
insurance are unenforceable, will be a poison pill in Congress, and if passed will create more problems than they will solve.
Joe Wilson's a fine guy. Paul Krugman is a good writer and a good ally of liberalism, though I think he's being a wee bit partisan. President Clinton is a very mixed bag, but his eight years were terrific.

We're discussing the feasibility of mandates for private insurance.

15. That isn't a step towards single-payer at all. The step towards single payer |
|
is expansion of federal programs, which Hillary and Obama do identically. Both Clinton and Obama are currently conceding single-payer. Universality of private coverage is not a step towards government-financed coverage.

28. Obama has MANDATES FOR PARENTS..... |
|
is that because he doesn't REALLY believe people will buy insurance if they can afford it or does he just think parents are more irresponsible than everyone else? I vote he doesn't' really believe his own bullshit and the lack of mandates for everyone is just more pandering to the young, who are the most likely to for go insurance.

you started talking about enforcement. WHY A MANDATE IF HE BELIEVES THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE DON'T BUY INSURANCE IS BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT? Can you answer that question? Does he think that's only true of people who don't have children? Are parents more irresponsible than non-parents?

42. I started talking about enforcement because you asked about enforcement. Don't ask questions |
|
if you don't want them answered.
He never claimed that was the only reason he didn't want a mandate. A bigger problem is that a mandate is unenforceable. The "they only don't have it because they can't afford it" line is deflecting claims that he will leave X million uninsured, by pointing out that most uninsured would buy insurance if it were cheaper.

They are their own worst enemy. I voted and worked for Bill both times and have apologized for them way too long---and now I am DONE with them.
I started in Democratic politics at age 15, and have been a Democratic ward committee woman. I am not into cults. I am a 60 year old white woman that wants a brighter future for my daughters and granddaughter, and that future will be infinitely better with Barack and Michelle Obama in the White House.

i don't want to pay for your sorry ass, because you don't want to pay into the system..get that bubba?
health care is not free..darlin..not here and not anywhere in the world..unless you have no means to care for yourself..
if you do not want universal health care..then so be it..lets scrap the idea..but some paying... while others opt out ...to only come back when they need it or are desperate for helath care.. ...doesn't work..and i will be damned if i will pay for you!! got me??

YOU, Muckymerk, are the cultist. You're slavishly devoted to your candidate in a way that's very noticable. YOU are the one who stated that they won't vote for Obama.

i am just waiting for the "blue" Kool aide to come out..
wonder what happens to these kids if Obama is indicted in the Rezko case..many of us worried about this with the Edwards camp.
this is rather frightening to me..to be honest..this guy is getting like Little lord pissy pants was with his cult..even if he screwed a pink elephant on the front lawn of the white house in front of millions of people ..they would try to convince everyone they imagined it..or it wasn't soooooooo bad..
shaking head here...
now all those who we supported and supported us with truth are the bad guys to the OBAMA ipod kids..
me thinks they need a little history lesson..
i hope none of them drop out of school any time soon..or is no child left behind creating them?? i wonder??

35. i agree. I'm really having a disconnect with his campaign |
|
I don not understand why a progressive candidate really feels the need to blunt his stance on health care? This plan of his is weak, and I don't get it. It doesn't really control costs, it leaves people out, and doesn't move us toward anything more workable.
Look, I live in Chicago. I stay politically aware, I know people who know people who know Obama personally. They all think he's a truely wonderful, sharp, intelligent progressive man.
But he seems in this campaign to be staking himself out to the right of Hillary. But I thought the big argument with Hillary was that she was too far right already?
I really, really don't get it, and have a sinking feeling that despite poll surges, the man is losing his way.
