Poll question: Can you make yourself cry on demand?
Just wondering.

I am female, and I cannot.

3. Sure. My fiancee's even better at it. She's frighteningly good at it.
I need to get into character first; that can take like a minute. She can do it in 5 seconds flat.

4. yup.. my best friend is an Actress... and she taught me the trick.
Bite the inside of your cheek really hard, and think of one thing that makes you really sad (I think about losing my dad last year). That will make me cry over anything at anytime.

And, since i'm really NOT much of emotional person - this is usually the only way i cry. I think i've done it maybe twice, ever.

11. Biting the inside of your cheek really hard is the trick?
Not for me. I usually have to have someone stick my head in a vise and crank it up until the jaws of the vice are within 2 1/2" of each other. That always brings the tears to my eyes.

7. I can. But it was not easy. It took years of experience on stage
and a lot of practice to put myself in the right mindframe - but i discovered that with a particular trigger conjured from my past, yes.

Many actors can.

9. I have tried
I am male, and I have tried and I just can't seem to do it. No matter what awful thing I think of. I tried to use it a few times years ago to get out of trouble with my girlfriend at the time but she wasn't buying it and we ended up laughing over my failed cry attempt. Now she on the other hand, I am convinced could do it without even breaking a sweat. :)

10. I can't cry on demand, nor can I hold back tears if I'm truly touched.
I might resist downright boo hooing, but I can't keep my voice smooth or my eyes dry if I get really emotional about something.

12. I don't know b/c I haven't tried that trick
I know I've had to work to stop myself from tearing up, but I wouldn't use my emotions to curry favor. I find that tactless x(

13. I can if I think of certain memories...
But then, I also suffer from bouts of depression, so that also helps.

Edited on Mon Feb-04-08 11:55 AM by Raine
When I was younger I couldn't but as I have gotten older it has become easier and easier cause I have more sad memories. All I have to do is think of one of them put myself into the memory and within seconds I can tear up. ;-)

Edit: spelling
