Ignore this.
Edited on Mon Feb-04-08 12:12 PM by redwitch
I have been here since '03. Have seldom felt the urge to put anyone on ignore. The few times when I have given in it was only for a day at most. It just seemed so stupid and undemocratic or something like that, I always emptied my small ignore list almost as fast as I put it up. That being said, I must tell you that I now have 30 people on ignore. And I STILL can't stand reading what is left of many of the posts in GDP. Worse, I am getting turned off to BOTH of our candidates. Really. It is sickening.

1. Might be best to simply stay out of GD-P until after the primaries.
I hope you can read this. :-)

2. My ignore list has a definite ebb and flow. Right now, it's nearly empty.

However, I make a concerted effort to ignore 90% of the crap on GD-P.

EDIT: As luck would have it, the post immediately above mine shows only: Ignored.

4. Oh no!

I have a tidal wave of ignored when I had barely a puddle. This may be the last thread I read here for a long time. I am becoming too miserable, it is unlike me.

5. I applaud you, but don't hold candidates responsible for fanatics.

First of all, we never know for sure whether a poster who is shilling obnoxiously is an agent provocateur, a poser. For that reason, I hold each individual poster responsible.

Second, I focus on thread starters, because that's where the chronic misconduct shows up immediately. Anyone who starts a flame bait thread on GDP gets the IGNORE list immediately. Doesn't matter if they say they're for Obama, Clinton or Edwards. Shills get the heave ho.

What then remains is somewhat manageable. If I think the person is just having a bad thread, I hide it.

I joined after lurking for a year because it had become impossible to read GDP without having Ignore and Hide Thread available. Well, that and I've been home sick for a week, and am not much good for anything but chatting about the biggest event for Democrats in a long time.

After the primary season is resolved, I'll probably empty the ignore bin and start over, but right now, I cannot see that crap on thread after thread.

8. I don't really hold the candidates responsible for the bad behavior here.
But the primary season needs to end soon!
