CALIFORNIA ELECTION INTEGRITY ASSESSMENT: tools for analysis of Feb 5 results

The assessment--and many tools you will need to understand, monitor and analyze the returns as they come in on Feb 5-6 can be found here:

PLEASE DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO CORPORATE MEDIA 'HYSTERIA' ABOUT SLOW RETURNS IN CALIFORNIA! Urge (and practice) patience!

If the returns are slow (into Wednesday and beyond), we may be looking at a strategy to undermine SoS Debra Bowen's reforms, which are aimed at more transparency and accountability, and more reliable results. The corporate media wants instant results--from those slick, paperless, unaccountable touchscreen voting machines, which Bowen has effectively banned in most of the state. The corporate voting machine vendors (the three big ones with close ties to the Republican Party and rightwing causes, and who are additionally profiteering from our election system) oppose reform, and have already driven one reforming SoS in Calif out of office. There are some indications (see the 2nd url above) that overly-slow returns, snags and mess-ups, may be deliberate, to be blamed on Bowen's reforms. Don't play into the corporate game! As a rule, slow is good. Slow means that laws are being obeyed. Slow means good security and careful checking. But the pro-corporate county election officials are already exaggerating the difficulties of conforming to new rules and security measures. Hell, they just sued Bowen to stop implementation of better auditing practices. They lost the suit, but that just gives them motive to achieve their ends in a different way. Whining about slow returns, here in a Democratic forum, serves the corporate agenda. Resist! Be patient! Be appreciative of an SoS who is doing her job!
