Imagine if Bill Clinton had said that? Michelle Obama needs to straighten this out immediately. Really bad stuff from the Obama campaign".

18. It was on the Good Morning America interview this am.
I never watch that show, but I wasn't at home this morning and was 'going with the flow.' It was a very good interview, overall, but that comment stood out and not in a particularly good way. The rest of the interview was fine, though.

I thought the reporter was trying to goad Mrs. Obama a bit, while pretending to be "sisterly."

How could less than 100% support for the nominee be "out of context"? There IS NO context wherein
such hesitancy, such hedging, about the general election would be appropriate.

38. Exactly! IF this is true, it reinforces my conclusion that BO and his team are in
it more for the power than his desire to do good or undo thw damage of the * administration (hence, the reaching out to Cons and pukes).

The more I hear from/about BO, the less appealing he is. FWIW - HC has not hurt herself with me, I was not a supporter ever.

And where are the "loyalty oath" supporters on this?

47. I don't think the outrage is fake.
I'm an Edwards supporter...so I'm not outraged by the fact that she said that about Hillary.....I'm outraged (actually embarrassed) that she said that about the party. It's okay for the average Democrat to say they would have to think about supporting whoever the nominee is...but she's not the average Democrat. She's got alot of clout and she just told the world that she may not be able to vote for a Democrat! That's not just outrageous...it's stupid!

This isn't a candidate issue, it's a party issue, and her husband is supposed to be representing the party. This comment could easily have been taken out of context, but I'd like to hear her say that it was out of context and that she and Obama would unequivocally vote for the Democratic nominee.

55. The "roll the dice" comment wasn't just intended to hurt Obama in the primary--
it was to call Obama's entire candidacy into question. I can easily see the Repubs picking it up and using it if Obama is the nominee. So I can also see how Michelle might have some Clinton-afflicted wounds she's nursing, now in the heat of battle. I'm sure she'll be gracious when the time comes.

120. I think it was intended to leave Obama wounded, and not just for the primary.
I am pretty certain it was meant to permanently damage him, the same way the South Carolina/Jesse Jackson comments were meant to permanently paint him as THE BLACK CANDIDATE who ultimately won't get very far. It's hardball politics--that's what the Clintons engage in, and their supporters here see it as a positive. Michelle was being honest--too honest, perhaps, but she's had less than a year on the national stage, compared to Bill, a former governor and President, and yet overall, she's shown more class, IMO.

143. No, it was my opinion. Not an attack. I certainly have a valid
opinion on how both sides are conducting their campaigns. My point was that Bill and Michelle are not equals--Bill is a former President and Dem party leader. Michelle is not a professional politician, and this is her first role involving national politics. I think Bill did WAY worse damage to Obama over the last few weeks, just by means of his position, than Michelle could ever do to Hillary--I think it's much ado about...not much, frankly.

37. Just to be clear, the question was "Working to Support" not would you support her
This does make a difference, but I agree that this isn't one you want a truthful answer. This has to be qualified as a gaff (meaning public figure says the truth). But as his spouse, it wouldn't surprise me that she got personally offended by all these attacks on her husband. I would be surprised if most spouses didn't feel this way.

54. It is fair to point that out. But you do know that if the tables were turned
that very few Obama supporters would consider that a meaningful distinction.

I do see the distinction as having some meaning, but it still is a very disturbing mistake (if it is a mistake from her view point) to say this. It comes on the heels of Obama asserting that he can hold onto all of Hillary Clinton's votes while expressing doubt that she could do the same with his.

This is devisive, no other way to put it honestly, and it is devisive coming from a very significant spokesperson for the Obama campaign, which prides itself on a unity mesage - toward Republicans of good will.

Oh, yeah, she's a citizen, she's entitled, she has her own opinions, whatever.

I guess she doesn't understand yet her ROLE as a candidate's spouse. Does she think those Democrats supporting her husband will REFUSE to support HRC, if she is the nominee?
How naive, how egotistical, if so.

In fact I'm pretty much beyond the thinking stage. If Hillary gets the nod, odds are I'm going Green. For me it boils down to her record on the war, and what she'll do about it once she gets into office.

Other than that, in my eyes there's very little difference between Obama and Clinton, both are corporately controlled candidates.

141. The Oprah Effect?
I respect Senator Obama and his wife. I would think a weekend of campaigning with Oprah, Maria Shriver and Carolyn Kennedy would leave Mrs. Obama feeling very excited and passionate about the campaign. This passion could have translated to some confidence that came across wrong on the TV.

I agree there may be a difference between "support" and "vote for." But I still do not see how this comment is very helpful, whatever the context. And for me, it adds to the impression that the Clinton campaign will be better prepared for the inevitable GOP and media distortions than the Obama campaign.

147. Did you watch the whole video?
She says she will "work hard to support whoever the nominee is. We're all on the same team here."

It's just someone's attempt to stir up division.

149. I love how you left out all the disgusting comments before that, the disloyal ones
where she said she'd have to "think about it" and where she followed up by REFUSING to say she'd support Hillary if she won the nod.

151. Yes, I just did. All of it, from start to finish.
And if Michelle is supposed to be "the closer" who "seals the deal" for her husband, I think she just did.

Honestly, and with no malice whatsoever, watching the entire video only worsened my impression of her. She dodged and weaved -- and I did NOT like her saying she "expected" Bill to bring up Jesse Jackson. If race is such a non-issue, then NO ONE should care that Bill cited Jackson -- who DID win South Carolina in '84 and '88, yet failed to win the nomination.

Sorry, dude, but watching the whole video just makes it worse. The only good thing I got out of it is that Michelle doesn't want to put her family through another campaign if Barack loses this one. I hope she's serious about that.

161. Room under the bus
"I'm not sure there's enough room under this bus for all of us, but we queers will try to make room."

I absolutely loved this line, sad as it is.

144. For anyone who doubts this is true or taken out of context, just look at the ENTIRE conversation....
here in this full edition version of it where Michelle REFUSES to say she'd support Hillary if Hillary were to beat her husband in the Primaries...even after her initial disgusting comments. It's towards the later part of the video where it all takes place.

148. The attempts to coronate Obama as the Dem. nominee
by the media at large and the Kennedys in particular have turned me off completely to the man. I honestly have come to the conclusion that if Hillary were not to win the nomination, I will probably sit out this election. I would never vote Republican, but I also can't vote in good conscience for a candidate who is all hype and little substance.

155. Obama & Michelle thinks they are God's gift ......
to did country. They are so full of themeselves. I saw it this morning and was outraged. As a prominent Dem figure, I think she hanged herself. The question was a no brainer.

156. Proves that Hilary
is the right choice for me. I will have to vote for Obama if nominated, but between the statement that if he doesn't win now he won't play anymore and now this..They really are arrogant

159. This will turn into one of those don't believe your own eyes
and ears thing . I saw it and heard what she said and there is no way to spin it anyother way . She will not support Hillary .

This is just like when Barack brought Reagan back from the grave and tried to spin that too . All he needed to do from the begining is say Reagan did not have good ideas and destroyed this country but he didn't .

Now people come out telling everyone not to believe their own eyes and ears sort of like 9/11 , just believe what the news believes .
