I'll certainly consider voting for Obama though I think he's a poor choice for our candidate. I won't vote for Clinton under any circumstances.
No dynasties for me.
No pre-picked candidates.
Nobody who so routinely votes against my positions.
FYI: My "trajectory" was Gore, Kucinich, Edwards, nobody.)

5. Yes! I wanted Clark, then Kucinich, then Edwards. Tomorrow, I'm voting for Clinton... |
|
...although I can't say I've been a "Clinton Supporter" (so I voted under Other); I've only come to my vote decision in the last hour.
I will, in November, vote for whomever is our Democratic Nominee.

10. I will not vote for Obama |
|
I think the country would be better with four years of McCain & the hope of a TRUE progressive next time, then four years of a corporate puppet Obama putting a 'progressive' face on right wing policies.
It feels like we are entering the Twilight Zone.
Let McCain deal with the fallout of Bush & America have the ice water of reality wake it up. In four years, angry 'populism' will be a DEMAND.
Obama will a total disaster.

14. It's 28 years of BushClinton that MADE this country a mess |
|
how is 4 more years of them going to help?
I wouldn't vote for McCain, but he would probably be better than Hillary, simply because he is not a Bush or a Clinton.

20. Clintons did a lot right |
|
It was a good eight years. Don't lump in Bill with the Bushes.
I would be happy to go back eight years to where we were when he left office. The Clintons are tough, & if anyone can pull our feet out of the fire (of these two 'choices), it would Hillary. Obama has nothing but hype.

31. NAFTA undermined everything good Bill did. |
|
3.6 million unionized manufacturing jobs sacrificed on the Clinton altar of Free Trade.
Plus, we can thank Clinton for not ratifying Kyoto, for approving "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", the Brady Bill (which cost us Congress in 1994), the Digital Milennium Copyright Act, an expansion of the federal death penalty, approval of the welfare reform bill that increased national poverty, the Defense of Marriage act, and a civilian death toll in Iraq that was only recently eclipsed by George Bush.
Clinton was certainly a better president than Bush, but in the grand scheme of Democratic presidents he was actually a very poor leader, and not a friend to progressive causes. If you factor out the dot-com boom (which really had little to do with Clinton), it would have been a very blah period of time. As one of my friends once put it: "The best thing to come out of the Clinton years was the X-Files."
As an anti-trade protester from the late 90's, I do not look back fondly on the Clinton era.

16. I am sorry to hear that. Obama is not my choice |
|
never has been. But you know that he will not nominate Roberts or Alito to the Supreme Court.
And this is really the bottom line that has to be for all of us.
In the next few years there will be two or three vacancies all of liberals. Wouldn't it be ironic if liberals will help cement Bush's "legacy" of a Supreme Court full of Thomases and Scalias?
It is not only Roe v. Wade; it is the survival of our Constitution, of our freedom of speech, of... DU.

19. This country needs to have the scales fall from its eyes |
|
The ONLY reason I am throwing a very unenthusiastic vote to Hillary in the primaries is because I think the Clintons might be able to keep the country from drowning. They know the system, they might be able to stem off or mitigate the depression that is just around the corner. Bush is leaving a DISASTER to the next POTUS. Obama is further to the right then Hillary, & I think he will be an easy pawn for the corporate powers that be. As I have said before, better to work it then be worked.
I don't think Obama has it to keep it from unraveling. Look past the speeches & thumping, and there is no meat.
Believe me, I am not thrilled about either of them. Hillary has seriously pissed me off. Everyone here who does not like her, they have good reason.
And, my vote won't matter in the general election. I am in MA. We will go democratic no matter what...
I am sorry. But, I can't vote for Obama.

Honestly, I shudder at the thought of not voting for the Democratic candidate because they aren't ______ enough.
All you really need to do if you feel that way is to ask yourself if the Republican who would then win by default would more closely align with your issues than whichever Democrat.
If you don't like ______ because they are too Hawkish/conservative/corporate/etc., then does allowing the stacking of the Supreme Court (and most of the upper level judicial branch frankly) with Christian Conservatives somehow make it all worth it? When I say I will vote for someone who I disagree with on some issues it is because it is preferable to letting someone else with whom I completely disagree with on all issues win.
Are we so guilty of pride and hubris that we'd fail to see the Big Picture if our favorite candidate is not the nominee? I'm not a huge fan of Clinton, honestly, but I'll be damned if I let McCain or Romney or Huckabee win because I was too stubborn.

Nor will I vote for any of the republicans. Was supporting Edwards now Obama. If Hillary is the nominee, I cannot in good conscience cast a vote that puts her in the White House. I will either sit it out or vote for one of the minor candidates, green/peace and freedom ect.

Generally my feeling is yes, but Hillary will be a real problem for me. NAFTA, in my book, was just as evil as the Patriot Act and FISA, and probably did more damage to working Americans. Hillary is running on her husbands legacy (according to her and her supporters, it's her White House experience with Bill that qualifies her for the position), and her husbands legacy is irretrievably tarnished by NAFTA. I was quite vocal back in 99 that it was a GOOD thing that Bill couldn't run for a third term, because NAFTA forever erased any chance of me voting for him again. His rejection of Kyoto simply cinched the deal.
Hillary has not attempted to really distance herself from Bill's trade policies, and her own history in that area (and her cozy relationship with Indian outsourcing firms and her stated support to increase H1-B visas) makes me believe that a Hillary presidency will simply be a replay of the 1990's when it comes to their free market trade policies. Many people nowadays forget that the HUGE WTO and trade protests of the late 90's happened under the Clinton watch, largely in response to Bill's own trade policies. Eight years of busHitler have made many people put on rose colored glasses and forget most of the less pleasant aspects of the Clinton era, but MANY of us (yes, even Democrats) weren't terribly happy with the last Clinton presidency.
Some of us have not forgotten. I would never vote for McCain or Romney, but a Hillary nomination will make me think hard about skipping the GE altogether. A free traitor is a free traitor, no matter their party affiliation.
I'm not a big Obama fan, but he's one of the most pro-labor leaders in the Senate and has already called for the renegotiation of NAFTA to fix the job loss issues. I still think that Edwards would be a better president, but I can deal with Obama. Clinton? I'll have to get back to you in a few months on that one.
