I am originally from Georgia and am fortunate enough to have heard Mr Lewis speak on several occaisions when I lived there. He's one of the few politicians left in America I still respect. I think he sums it up better than anyone with his endorsement of Hillary Clinton. (He wrote this before Edwards withdrew)
Click the link and read his entire endorsement. It is worth it.

Martin Luther King Jr. would be proud of the diversity in the Democratic frontrunners for president. There are three senators — a Harvard-educated African American, a son of the hard-working South who happens to be white and a former first lady. This range of opportunity is what the civil rights movement was all about, opening up our society, challenging it to prove its commitment to equal justice, equal rights and full participation for every American.
......there comes a time when you have to choose, when you have to make a hard, tough decision. When I look at the difficulties the next president will confront, I see the need for strong, bold and aggressive leadership, leadership that has been tested, leadership that, without a doubt, can withstand the challenges ahead.
Four years is not much time to change the direction of a nation. We need someone, who from his or her first day in office, can put the needs of the American people back on the agenda and can, at the same time, work to restore our moral standing in the world.
I chose to support Hillary Clinton because she is already respected among the community of nations, and she has demonstrated her ability to lead. I do not see my support of Hillary as a strike against Barack Obama. I am proud of his candidacy and his leadership. He has brought a sense of vision and hope into this campaign. He belongs at the center stage of American politics, but the Republican leadership of the past eight years, in Congress and in the White House, has left this country in troubled waters.
