But it's still way too close. I don't think tomorrow's really going to decide anything except that this isn't over yet.

13. I don't like it, either... |

...but that's my best guess.
Unfortunately, my crystal ball overheated and shorted out recently, so this race was too much even for it. :D

24. The way Dean was absolutely robbed by the media and the DLC |
|
can you blame them for being a little angry? I was lurking here in '04, and it seemed to me some of the other folks were celebrating Dean's manipulated "downfall" just a little too much.

36. Ahh, but the anti-Kerry folk still have kneejerk resentments, and pop up regularly |
|
Even 4 years later.
A long but *cleanly fought* competition is actually good for us. I big part of what I think upsets you (and me) is the shallow BS of the media, coupled with the childish food fight here. Not much we can do about the former, other than complain to the media website, emails, LTTE - and share real info with those around us, one to one.
As to the kiddie pool here - the only way to damp down the BS is for those respected WITHIN each camp to tell their compadres to ramp it down, for the good of their own candidate.
I have tried to gently persuade the best of each camp, and got nothing. I guess they don't see it as being in their interest - some prefer the outrage and ensuing battles, even over the most frivolous of things. Each thinks the OTHER side has all the cultlike behavior, which is pretty hard to imagine.
Then of course the College Repub swat teams, freepers and general muckrakers - that is up to the moderators and the wisdom of each discrning DUer to determine. There is a new wave of folks who joined in the last week, for instance, with HUNDREDS of posts already. Hmm, indeed.
Know whut I'm sayin' sista? I wish you peace, and look forward to working together to "beat those GOP bastards" (non-aligned, long timer)

There is no way someone wins by enough delegates to thoroughly distance themselves. I see no way this race doesn't go to the convention.

It does stink. But seriously...if you plug in the polling averages through all states, they indicate the race will be basically tied.
Superdelegates may decide this race.
And I see no way Superdelegates break for Hillary if Obama and Hillary are tied. Obama's biggest hurdle with them is his viability. If he can compete with the Clinton machine, they'll rally behind him.

I doubt Superdelegates will let it go to the convention. They may come out in force for one candidate after Super Tuesday. My bets are on Obama if this momentum continues.

That would probably mean Hillary walloped him. Of course, seeing as how he now has the lead in California, who knows, maybe it will be.

but it's just not likely that we'll have our candidate tomorrow. In fact, it's really unlikely. It appears that this race could go on into April. There's a nauseating thought.

....Every week our campaign goes on is another week of news cycles dominated by the Democratic party....
It means more free advertising in the form of debates like last Thursday, that highlight how much better our candidates are than the Republicans.
McCain won't be able to get 10% of the news coverage if the Dem race goes all the way to the convention... it will keep the Democratic party energized and the momentum growing all the way up to the convention....
..which will be the most watched political convention in the history of American politics.
Meanwhile, relegated to the talk radio circuit, McCain will be fighting with the Rush Limbaughs and Sean Hannity's of the world about being a "real conservative".
Rush and Sean will do our dirty work FOR us over the summer... and since the Dems won't have a nominee yet, the GOP will have to hold off their attacks even longer.
They aren't going to waste ad-buys against the Democrats until they know who they're up against.
Everything about this race goes against conventional wisdom. A prolonged race that goes to the summer will be a GOOD thing..... it will allow us to get ground organizations going in ALL 50 states, since each state's race will be important. Democratic voters in states like PA and Texas will be engaged because the race will still be up in the air when it comes to them....
Yes... you might have some unpleasantry here on DU and places like kos.... but the best way to keep the voters engaged IN ALL 50 states, while the GOP struggles for any media time at all, is to keep this race going.

We saw how having a candidate 6 months out worked in 2004, where the Republicans could focus all their energy on one person. I wouldnt have a problem if this went to the convention so we keep getting media for every state and give all states the chance to be heard.
