If McCain the R nominee, then Clark should be on the Democratic ticket |
|
If McCain is the Republican nominee, I think Wesley Clark should be on the ticket regardless of who is the Democratic nominee.
Clark's outstanding military credentials will help reassure the American people that the Democratic vision for security and ending the Iraq war is sound. Furthermore, he helps hedge against the manipulative effects of a possible terrorist attack in America during the election. He would be an excellent advisor on security, defense and international affairs to the future President. He is close to Clinton, which bodes well for a future relationship. However, he is not a divisive figure on the campaign path and his straightforward, intelligent, friendly demeanor should be very compatible with Obama.
I believe that his sense of service to the country would assure that Clark accept either candidate's request to be VP.
Finally, Clark is progressive, who has been very helpful in getting Democrats elected, and should help unify the party after this very contentious primary season is over.

Against the war, incredibly strait forward and clear-thinking in his Resistance to Bush. He would be great on any ticket.

7. Attacks will come regardless of background |
|
You post that McCain will be attacked by the "crazies," and imply that any military man/war hero type would be. Given the history of recent elections, it is clear that anyone of any background will be attacked. Given that Clark now has quite a bit of experience with fending off political attacks, and that he comes across as honest and non-political which helps in this regard, I think his presence of the ticket would only be beneficial.

9. Webb would be a good choice too |
|
I agree that Webb would be a good tactical choice too. My only problem is that his Senate seat is in Virginia, which makes it vulnerable.
