Tears Aren't Enough: [to win an election] Or Are They for Hillary Clinton?

Tears are not enough - or are they, for Hillary Clinton?

Remember Hillary Clinton's emotional moment the day before the New Hampshire primary on Jan. 8? It was thought, by many, to have helped spark her come-from-behind win there over Barack Obama.

But will it work a second time? Clinton teared up again Monday during a campaign event in New Haven, Conn., one of the states holding primaries on Super Tuesday.

As in New Hampshire, Clinton has been under enormous strain with polls showing Obama either tied or leading her in national polls, and in key Super Tuesday states like California.

The emotional moment in Connecticut when an old friend introducing Clinton remarked on the young idealistic woman he had known in the early 1970s. He got choked up, then Hillary did.

“I said I would not tear up. Already, we’re not exactly on that path,” Clinton said when she took the microphone.

1. Please stop this....I am an Obama supporter and I am sick of crap
like this making me and my candidate look petty and stupid.

Try telling people why they should vote for Obama instead of beating up on a lady who had an emotional moment

4. I was on the fence on this post...
If she wouldn't do it days/hours before elections it would be easier to swallow on face value.

7. I know how it may appear
But just because A few Assholes on the other side do it doesn't make it right for us too.
We need to be the adults..This is unproductive.

I am not a Hillary fan, AT ALL.

However, I stuck up for her during her first teary moment in NH. I felt it was
genuine, and most probably a product of exhaustion and frustration.

Now, she's doing it again?

And she didn't just tear up, she had to point out that she was crying...and announce
it as she took the microphone.

I'm rolling my eyes here, because this is SO contrived.

It worked in NH, when she was behind. So again, when the numbers are not looking good, she inserts herself
into an intimate gathering with friends and supporters and proceeds to cry AGAIN, and draw attention to the
crying.

I still believe the first cry was genuine. I call total bullshit on this one.

Enough, of the "crying game".

6. If she's doing this (again) on purpose, its a bad move politically

A second incedent makes it seem like a calculated ploy for votes.

Even if its percieved to be real it gives the impression she's not emotionally fit to be CinC.

Its could be a no win situation in either case.

Hillary Clinton Cries Again: Campaign Trail Tears
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Jackson Simpson
Feb 4, 2008

Hillary Clinton is crying on the campaign trail, again and it has nothing to do with her new supporter Ann Coulter. With Barack Obama closing the gap on Clinton, she has gone back to the old Clinton standby - tears. Hey, it worked in New Hampshire. When it appeared that the Hillary campaign would be over before it started she tried to appear human and turned on the waterworks.

It worked in the Granite State, and she pulled off the victory there. But can it really work again? And if it does, how many more times will we have to sit through Hillary's teary-eyed confessions. The former First Lady is running her campaign on what she claims is thirty-five years of experience but has it now been reduced to the potential "Crier-in-Chief"?

According to a report from Jason George, writing on his blog called "The Swamp", he says that Hillary cried during an introduction by Penn Rhodes about her no longer being a 'bell bottom wearing hippie chick' and applauding her transformation to the top of the heap and possibly the next US President. That's when she cried.

According to the report Rhodes cried during the introduction, then Clinton started crying and it was a big cry off. He cried, she cried and the whole big bawl fest was on. In defense of Hillary, Fox news is saying that she was coughing and hacking throughout the event, perhaps she was a bit under the weather. But she will surely be accused of orchestrating the whole event. http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/publish/article_272618669.shtml

Edited on Mon Feb-04-08 04:50 PM by Little Star
is Hillary cried. Your words sound mighty sexist! Too bad you boys were taught to never cry! Remember, lots of men are trying to overcome that stereotype. Besides, it's her party and she'll cry if she wants to! A male, on that stump cried also, and good for him!!!
Grow up!
