Poll question: For the non-Obama people
I'm interested in why people don't want to vote for Obama. Is it because you generally don't like him, or is it because it's just not his turn yet.

1. None of the above.
He adores Reagan and he panders to homophobes, not to mention he shows signs of other disturbing traits common to leaders who walk their followers right off a cliff.

4. lies damned lies and utter bullshit on top
He certainly has said NOTHING that indicates he "adores Reagan". Hillary also has prominent supporters who advocate the revolting "gay cure" shit. And he's no more a cult leader than was Howard Dean.

But I forgot, you're not really a democrat. You won't vote for Obama if he's the nominee.

Full of shit.

18. Yep. Not impressed by him at all, no matter
how hard Oprah, the media, and others try to shove him down my throat.

2. I think he is more facade than substance
I wonder if he gets elected, how many devoted fans he will have down the line.

6. He hasn't been government long enough i'm not sure where he
REALLY stands on some issues important to me...he gives great speeches. Also he said he was against the war but voted to fund the war. He is for coorporate regulations but courts ceos to back him financially. So i don't know who he REALLY is.

7. Thin skinned. Not ready for prime time.
If he gets the nomination (God forbid) republicans will eat him alive.
He'll look back on the "fairy tale" (gasp!) days with fondness.

10. "perfect for 2016" if...
If he performs up to potential in the meantime, and if Wes Clark doesn't run (which will only happen if he's Hillary's VP, which I'm not counting on).

I'd actually like to see Obama run for IL Governor and do a term or two in an executive job. If Hillary chooses him as VP, that would work too.

11. Runs a very Rovian campaign. Passive aggressive, plays victim. Has Chicago
connections that could very well sink him in the GE should he get the nomination. MSM licking their chops and sharpening their knives, while pretending to adore him. Is thin-skinned and petty; wife equally if not moreso.

15. Well thought out post that I disagree with
the tactics aren't fooling republicans to get them to vote for democrats. The goal is to blur the line that separates the two. We're stuck in a box right now. One that forces people to fall into category A or category B. What Barack Obama is doing is trying to make it so people can go between the two categories. When America is free of easy, catch-all political labels then we can see that the progressive goals that are shared on DU are shared by most Americans. I guarantee that many people who have voted republican in the past have done so partly out of ignorance of what Democrats stand for. We don't have to sell the soul of our party. We don't have to adopt right-wing strategies to seem centrist. We are the center. As soon as people stop labeling themselves they'll see that. Barack Obama is the best messenger for this idea.

I prefer the other candidate. I think she'll make a better candidate and a better President.
