Politico's Roger Simon: Obama "has won a lot of hearts in the press corps"

In a superb article by Howard Kurtz that is already circulating DU, Roger Simon from The Politico was interviewed about the treatment given to Obama by the Mainstream media. Simon had this to say:

Ted Kennedy is a strong campaigner but that the family "mystique" drove the story. "It was a Camelot moment," he says. "It was a huge, emotive outburst for the candidate who's won a lot of hearts in the press corps already. The fact is, we don't know how important it is."

I added the emphasis.

1. Here we go again...

The press corps will fall for anything, as long as the candidate is nice to them and feeds them well. Never mind about issues, let alone that old stale objectivity.

Haven't we been through this before? The media drooled over Bush (someone I wanna have a beer with!), McCain (He jokes with us! He's a Straight Talker!).

So now it's the Dem's turn. I'm willing to bet though, that if it comes down to Obama and McCain, they'll go with their ol' buddy, John McCain and drop Obama like Rudy drops wives.
