You can see there is text on the screens in the "town hall"

What is that all about?

13. No, you can not "script" an hour and a half of non stop discussing specifics regarding issues
You do realize don't you that even when candidates live blog at kos they have staff pouring over the questions looking for ones that they feel it would be important or advnatageous for taht candidate to address?

I would expect that Clinton staff looked for a wide range of questions that would allow Hillary to speak to a broad range of issues that she wanted to speak about. It was "scripted", I think, in the sense that "gotcha" and hostile questions would not be sprung on her.

But again, this went on for one and a half hours. This was not a Clinton stump speech that she has memorized by heart. It wasn't a speech at all, she was answering question after question and those questions were often more serious than some of the stupid ones that got thrown into Presidential debates. Hillary Clinton got into many detailed areas of the policy she is running on: Talking about supporting local food markets with food security issues on the rise, talking about how we need to upgrade the national electricity grid so that wind farmers in North Dakota can sell and provide renewable energy, talking about the war on science, talking about the need for regular summit level meetings with China and India on how to curb green house gases etc.

Sure they set up her husband and her daughter to introduce questioners at remote broadcast sites; and the crowds were full of her supporters so there was a pep rally atmosphere. But the "Town Hall" was also about 8 thousand times more informative than any twenty campaign ads that she could have run instead combined.

14. If there were no tough questions on IWR... then it was scripted....
It's not like it would be out of character.... Hillary's planted questions before....

15. I would hope that to at least some degree
that it WAS scripted. I would like to think that our leaders are organized enough to at least have someone help plot out what they are going to say before the say it.

ever hear the phrase "think before you speak"

Basically the meeting was a way for her to address certain issues. I'm sure they let people pick an issue and then pick a question regarding that issue.

This is the most time effective. It keeps lunatic questions such as those posed by 9-11 conspiracists and such out. It helps to prevent the same question being asked more than once. It helps keep the questions ON THE ISSUES which is why she is paying for this forum to begin with... so she can promote her issues.

I think she touched on some uneasy ground, they didn't ALL feel like soft balls. She addressed her husband's fuck up with DADT and she offered to correct that.

I am sure that Obama has help mapping out the topics to be discussed at his forums as well, and there would be no reason to hate him for it. As long as GOOD questions are being asked and answered then that is the point. This isn't like a press conference; it's a self promotional campaign event.
