62. The okie dokie is when you play it slick instead of just speaking the truth. |
|
For instance, if you are asked what your weakness is, you might say, I lose paper. My staff has to straighten up my desk for me, I can't find anything. Then the other candidate says, my weakness is that I care too much about education. Oh! I thought you asked me what my WEAKness is! I get it. And that's the okie dokie.

Hillary's ascendancy to the throne has been interrupted by someone who doesn't know enough to get at the back of the line. Some of the more vociferous members of the Clinton fan club get downright maniacal sometimes when it comes to Obama.

I saw him Saturday in Minneapolis. I've heard some great speakers in my life but no one who has had that kind of effect on his audience.
Does anyone else have a stump speech with references to slavery and the abolition movement? I've never heard one.

There was a deepness to this speech as if his own themes have transformed him at a deeper level.
I have heard his stump speech multiple times. I have heard it several times this weekend.
All I can say is this was different. I had chills. I was moved. They were the same words but they had a more powerful effect.

|
It got better and better as it went along, tired as he clearly was. It was the stump speech plus: total authenticity. The last hurrah.
And it reminded me why I decided to "roll the dice" on this guy. I have had my doubts, but I feel reassured and ready to vote with confidence tomorrow.
This man has never wavered from his vision since the beginning, despite the fun that has been made of him. This kind of tenacious belief in what he stands for, this kind of raw authenticity and confidence, is what I want to see translated into a working administration. It may not happen, but I sure will roll the dice on him tomorrow.

I was a Kucinich supporter in terms of my beliefs. I could have gone with Dodd. Shit, he wanted to legalize it. I wound up with Edwards after there were but 3, because I believed he was sort of determined to bust the shit out of corporations for a few years. That was okay by me. For some reason, I felt Edwards really meant that shit.
After it was clear Edwards was going nowhere...and it was clear early... I went to Obama. I listened carefully. BEYOND the rhetoric. Hell, I read some of his first book. Frankly, Well, I didn't find it an interesting enough read. I gave up.
But when I watched him speak, I knew he meant it. No question.
And from my 4 years of living in Japan, I can tell you how much it changes you to be in different cultures. It breaks you down and you examine your own assumptions and it opens you up and allows you to see the commonality between people. Don't ask me any more. If you have lived abroad -in a really foreign place-you know it. You know the transformation.
Obama has it. Plus brilliance. Humility, wit, experience, communication skills out the wazoo. Confidence, good looks, high hopes, diplomatic skills. He is the whole package.
I would be SO PROUD if he were our President. I would put the FUCKING FLAG up in my yard! Woohoo! He knows he would just be the conduit for US. He wants to let US empower ourselves. He does. The dude is not on a power trip. If he was, he would have waited.

and I might even love it unconditionally. I have had my moments of total estrangement with this place; I've spent a total of seven years abroad (Hong Kong and France), am married to a European and have spent much of the BushCo years marking my time to when I could leave again forever.
But where else could a longshot like Obama make his way to the middle of the struggle for the world's most powerful job? I was just in England and they are completely captivated by the goatherd's son. The Obama blog draws people from around the world...that's the dimension of this race that is mostly unseen; its potential global impact. He's humble and fair-minded, and the world is picking up on it, because that's what they want us to be, too.

66. Basically, it's the essential goodness of Barack AND Michelle |
|
and their insistence not so much on political unity, but the unity of human desires. Health care, a good education for your children, a chance to retire with dignity. Michelle has gone into rural areas and said that the problems of rural America are not that different from those of inner city America. They care enough to do things like that. They want to leave their mark on humanity, and I want to help them succeed.

59. He has changed the ending from "we will change this nation and we will change the world" to |
|
"we will transform this nation an we will transform the world."
This change of one word suggests that the young man has big plans.
The repugs will call him a wolf in sheep's clothing. And they will be right.
President Obama would usher in sweeping cultural and political change. President Kennedy's policies may not have been very liberal, but his presidency helped bring about a decade of great change in our society. He excited and energized young people to go out and change their country. Obama can do the same thing.

This is why some of the old guard in the democrat party fight against us. This is why the reich wing nuts fear Obama.
If he is elected except sweeping cultural changes in the USA.
