I tip my hat to the Obama team, this has gone from a campaign to a movement. I just wish the man I support had the same media coverage.

Edited...sorry, I'm tired. This is the major part of the article, minus lyrics.

(SNIP!)

(SALEM, Ore.) - A new song featuring Presidential Candidate Barack Obama is being watched by millions. It is as unlikely as the candidate himself but proof that change is inevitable in the future of this great nation and that we have the capability of growing in good ways in spite of some of our bad traits.

The song and video feature a star cast, by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, along with several celebrities including Kate Walsh, Scarlett Johansson, and John Legend (to name a few) have gotten together to pay homage to Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas says the song is inspired by Barack Obama’s ‘Yes We Can’ speech

(END SNIP)

1. Out of curiosity, I googled.

NY Times has written about it as well

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02/04/obama-supporters-sing-yes-we-can/

Part of the article.

(SNIP!)

On YouTube, the official version of the clip has received nearly 700,000 hits since it was posted on Saturday. Other video streams of the same song total some 200,000 views — and these figures don’t count the number of people who’ve heard the song through will.i.am’s Web site.
The song is a prime example of how the Web’s user-generated content sites are undeniably affecting voter engagement this election cycle. Purchasing four and a half minutes of national TV airtime would have been near impossible, but the Internet can reach that highly sought youth audience gratis.

(END SNIP!)

4. Obama will sail to the nomination on the strength of this video -
just the way Kerry beat Bush in a landslide after Eminem came out with "Mosh."

Remember?

Uhm...Not quite on the same level I'm seeing here.

6. don't know exactly what it is about the video
that makes it so 'powerful' ...it is like taking old MLK, RFK, JFK speeches and lifting them up in song, in unity...but Obama is not the past, he is the future, and we can lift ourselves up, now, at this moment in time

I know I don't have the words, but it does have a powerful affect.

7. It is pretty powerful, I think it's because....

It's him speaking, words that he's said set to music. I've not seen anything quite like it.
