ABC News: Soldiers give to Obama, lobbyists to Clinton
From ABC news:

"Another war opponent, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, was second (to Ron Paul) with about $94,000. Soldiers love Ron and Barack, and lobbyists love Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, the No. 1 recipient of lobbyist cash, receiving $823,000 in 2007 from the lobbying industry, which gave about $2.7 million overall."

72. Lawyers for Gitmo detainees endorse Obama as most likely to restore rule of law
This was posted earlier in the week on DU as an OP:
By Charlie Savage

More than 80 volunteer lawyers for Guantanamo Bay detainees today endorsed Illinois Senator Barack Obama's presidential bid.

The attorneys said in a joint statement that they believed Obama was the best choice to roll back the Bush-Cheney administration's detention policies in the war on terrorism and thereby to "restore the rule of law, demonstrate our commitment to human rights, and repair our reputation in the world community." The attorneys are representing the detainees in habeas corpus lawsuits, which are efforts to get individual hearings before federal judges in order to challenge the basis for their indefinite imprisonment without trial.

The attorneys praised Obama for being a leader in an unsuccessful fight in the fall of 2006 to block Congress from enacting a law stripping courts of jurisdiction to hear Guantanamo detainee lawsuits. The constitutionality of that law, which was part of the Military Commissions Act, is now being challenged before the Supreme Court in one of the most closely-watched cases this term.

"When we were walking the halls of the Capitol trying to win over enough Senators to beat back the Administration's bill, Senator Obama made his key staffers and even his offices available to help us," they wrote. "Senator Obama worked with us to count the votes, and he personally lobbied colleagues who worried about the political ramifications of voting to preserve habeas corpus for the men held at Guantanamo. He has understood that our strength as a nation stems from our commitment to our core values, and that we are strong enough to protect both our security and those values. Senator Obama demonstrated real leadership then and since, continuing to raise Guantanamo and habeas corpus in his speeches and in the debates."

3. That's what happens when a politician sells out.
I don't judge Hillary for anything during the Clinton presidency. It is her actions and loyalties since becoming a senator and presidential aspirant that cause me to believe her heart is with those who fund her.

43. The troops support Obama!!
I am always amused by all the folks who have never served, but boy will they tell you about how they support the military and won't stand to hear anyone suggest that not all who have served are worthy of adoration. I served, and as anyone who has served knows, there are a lot screw ups in the military, and being in the military doesn't make them admirable. If you're a screw up before you go in, and a screw up after you get out, chances are you were a screw up while you were in the military.

See George W. Bush and John McCain, both guys who had to rely on their daddies and granddaddies.

With finding the lesser of two evils! So I have to go with Obama and I say that since I dislike some of his words like we need to go into Pakistan to do what? Is it to find the real people behind 9-11 or just to act like they want to get Osama Bin Forgotten! Hillary is like GOP Lite and for those of you who don't believe it so was Bill! Here is from her own web site that she says she Admires and liked the administrations of the First Bush and Ronnie Raygun too!
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=4674
"But no president can do it alone. She must break recent tradition, cast cronyism aside and fill her cabinet with the best people, not only the best Democrats, but the best Republicans as well.. We’re confident she will do that. Her list of favorite presidents - Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, both Roosevelts, Truman, George H.W. Bush and Reagan - demonstrates how she thinks. "

What Hillary Likes About Reagan Bush 41
Hillary likes the way Reagan-Bush negotiated the 1980 October Suprise with the Iranian Mullahs and GOT AWAY WITH IT.
Hillary loves the way Reagan stole Carter's debate briefing papers and got away with it.
Hillary loved the way the contra army killed tens of thousands of people in Nicaragua and especially all those Nicaraguan women that were GANG-RAPED BY THE CONTRA ARMY.
Hillary loves the way Reagan-Bush 41 & Bill Clinton GOT AWAY WITH ALL THE OLIVER NORTH CONTRA COCAINE SMUGGLING.GOOGLE THE TERM I VOLUNTEER TO KIDNAP OLIVER NORTH BY FORMER DEA AGENT MICHAEL LEVINE.
Hillary loves the way REAGAN-BUSH 41 GOT AWAY WITH ALL THE IRAN-CONTRA CRIMES WITHOUT BEING IMPEACHED.

The original article from the CRP is interesting, although it doesn't provide all the details one might like.

One thing I find a little strange is in the 2004 election that $880 million was raised yet only $718 million spent. Heck, what's $162 million between friends? :)

73. Both Clinton and Obama take lots of corporate money
Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 09:23 PM by ProgressIn2008
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080204/pl_nm/usa_politics_campaign_finance_dc

Corporate presidential campaign giving surges

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Corporate America is pouring money into the U.S. presidential campaign at an unprecedented rate, with a torrent of donations coming from the businesses behind the subprime mortgage crisis.

Senators Clinton and Obama have each taken in more than $5 million from securities and investment firms; Republican Mitt Romney, over $4 million, and rival John McCain, $2 million.

Real estate has not been far behind, donating $4.8 million to New York's Clinton and $3.7 million to Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts.

Illinois' Obama has raked in $2.7 million, and Arizona Sen. McCain $1.9 million from real estate interests including mortgage brokers, homebuilders and property developers. Hedge funds and private equity, a new, independent-minded source of funds, has sunk $3.6 million into campaigns: $1.3 million to Clinton; $1 million to Obama; $837,000 to Romney, and $395,000 to McCain. But the private equity and hedge fund kingpins also bet big on drop-out Giuliani, donating more than $1.2 million to him.

That's the way the game works. It's not like one takes "bad" money and the other takes "good" money.
