Homer'sIliad (In praise of hall monitors: a Tsunami Tuesday primary ode)
Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 07:26 AM by CorpGovActivist
For all the fine precinct monitors who volunteer their time at the polls, an election elegy.

*************************************************************

Friends, prOmans, Clintonfolk - lend me your ears:

I come to parry your head, not to raze it.

The evil that chimps do gives afterburn.

The good is oft unheard when they're stoned.

So let it be with Martins ... the noble Nelson

Hath told you Martins were snitches

If it were so, it was a heave of snot

And peevishly hath Martins alerted it

<skip ahead a bit, Brother>

O judgement! thou art fed to brutish beasts,

And men have pondered treason ... Bear with me;

My heart is in the hallway there with Martins,

And no just cause will be required of thee.

*************************************************************

To hall monitors in every precinct today, may you always nab your Naughty Neddy.

- Dave

2. It is entirely seemly for a young man killed in battle
to lie mangled by the bronze spear, in his death all things appear fair.

4. pigs flying in Minnesota
my dad, soooooo conservative he makes oxy-rush look liberal - is not participating in caucus. doesn't like any of the repubs

my mom, repentant twice-bush voter, is caucusing for Obama

my aunt and uncle, casual observers, never been to a caucus - are joining mom

brother and sister who regard politics just slightly above the half-life of moldy oatmeal are also going to obama caucus

pigs are flying!!!!

5. Like I said...
... figure out a way to re-slop them mid-air, with the tanker trough there for them mid-flight, and you've got yourself a money-making concession.

:toast:

What a year!

Amazing, and energizing, for sure. This is a a transformational, realignment election.

7. the numbers that impress me
is the comparison of overall turnout between dems and repubs

both are setting records, but dems turn out is close to double of the repubs

wonder if the enthusiasm will carry through to november???

8. Yup, and the only thing missing...
... will be the torches, pitchforks, tars, feathers, and hot burning oil.

I am in awe of Democracy. Again.

I know you can put out matches with diesel...

Bonus points to anyone who answers by correctly using the word "inflammable".
