there are a lot of people that are torn just like i am...
A message of unity from will.i.am:

I was sitting in my recording studio watching the debates...
Torn between the candidates

I was never really big on politics...
and actually I’m still not big on politics...
but 4 years ago, me and the black eyed peas supported Kerry...
And we supported Kerry with all our might...
We performed and performed and performed for the DNC...
doing all we could do to get the youth involved...

The outcome of the last 2 elections has saddened me...
on how unfair, backwards, upside down, unbalanced, untruthful,
corrupt, and just simply, how wrong the world and "politics" are...

So this year i wanted to get involved and do all i could early...

And i found myself torn...
because this time it’s not that simple...
our choices aren’t as clear as the last elections ...
last time it was so obvious...
Bush and war
vs
no Bush and no war...

But this time it’s not that simple...
and there are a lot of people that are torn just like i am...

So for awhile I put it off and i was going to wait until it was decided for me...

And then came New Hampshire...

<snip>

it was that speech...
like many great speeches...
that one moved me...
because words and ideas are powerful...

<snip>

it inspired me...
it inspired me to look inside myself and outwards towards the world...
it inspired me to want to change myself to better the world...
and take a "leap" towards change...
and hope that others become inspired to do the same...
change themselves..
change their greed...
change their fears...
and if we "change that"
"then hey"..
we got something right...???...

1 week later after the speech settled in me...
I began making this song...
I came up with the idea to turn his speech into a song...
because that speech effected and touched my inner core like nothing in a very long time...

<snip>

so I called my friends...
and they called their friends...
in a matter of 2 days...
We made the song and video...

Usually this process would take months...

<snip>

and we did it together in 48 hours...
and instead of putting it in the hands of profit we put it in the hands of inspiration...

then we put it on the net for the world to feel...

When you are truly inspired..
magic happens...
incredible things happen...
love happens..
(and with that combination)

"love, and inspiration"

change happens...

"change for the better"
Inspiration breeds change...

"Positive change"...

no one on this planet is truly experienced to handle the obstacles we face today...
Terror, fear, lies, agendas, politics, money, all the above...
It’s all scary...

Martin Luther King didn't have experience to lead...
Kennedy didn't have experience to lead...
Susan B. Anthony...
Nelson Mandella...
Rosa Parks...
Gandhi...
Anne Frank...
and everyone else who has had a hand in molding the freedoms we have and take for granted today...

no one truly has experience to deal with the world today...

they just need "desire, strength, courage ability, and passion" to change...
and to stand for something even when people say it's not possible...

<snip>

I'm not trying to convince people to see things how i do...
I produced this song to share my new found inspiration and how I've been moved...
I hope this song will make you feel...
love...
and think...
and be inspired just like the speech inspired me...

that’s all...

Read will.i.am's statement and hear "Yes We Can" at http:/www.dipdive.com

PLEASE do not use this thread to criticize the candidate you do not support at this time. Instead, state how you hope Obama or Clinton will help us make the changes we all want to see.

1. Perhaps it'd help if you could read better?
If your thread is about
the Democratic presidential primaries and caucuses,
or about any of the candidates running for the Democratic presidential nomination,
or anything remotely related...
Please post in this forum:

6. The best way to fight evil is to make energetic progress in the good.
I agree. I agree.

Part of my energetic progress in the good is trying to find a way to empower others to make energetic progress in the good. That is what will.i.am's statement is about.

7. No energetic progress in the good can happen when people are caught up in illusions.
I mean, what exactly are people being "inspired" to do? Are they being inspired to throw off their blinders and throw off their shackles to the statist/corporate orthodoxy?

Are they being inspired to community action and building new institutions from the ground up? Are they being inspired to global solidarity with their fellow human beings who are being exploited by the same statist/corporate powers that make up the U.S. and global Ruling Class?

Or are they merely being "inspired" to look -- as always -- for a damn savior to make things right, so that they don't have to trouble themselves overmuch about changing their worldview, or their comfortable lifestyles?

You want to make energetic progress in the good? Stop consuming, stop cooperating with a system that leads to certain destruction of people's lives and the planet's resources. Stop propping up the illusion that electoral politics makes any damn difference at all when the underlying power dynamic remains the same.

Obama is nothing but a blank screen upon which desperate masses are projecting all their stuff. Projection is just more engagement in illusion -- putting the responsibility for real change on something/someone outside ourselves, instead of doing the hard work of changing from within, changing our perceptions, and then acting on it.

8. Scarletwoman - I agree with you on just about everything...
Agree: No energetic progress in the good can happen when people are caught up in illusions.

I agree that this is certainly what they need to be inspired to do: Are they being inspired to community action and building new institutions from the ground up? Are they being inspired to global solidarity with their fellow human beings who are being exploited by the same statist/corporate powers that make up the U.S. and global Ruling Class?

This may be true of some or, perhaps, many: Or are they merely being "inspired" to look -- as always -- for a damn savior to make things right, so that they don't have to trouble themselves overmuch about changing their worldview, or their comfortable lifestyles?

I am with you most of the way here: You want to make energetic progress in the good? Stop consuming, stop cooperating with a system that leads to certain destruction of people's lives and the planet's resources. Stop propping up the illusion that electoral politics makes any damn difference at all when the underlying power dynamic remains the same.

Electoral politics cannot make the underlying power dynamic change -- top-down, trickle-down -- it doesn't work. A change in the underlying power dynamic can, however, be expressed in a change in electoral politics.

I disagree with you here: Obama is nothing but a blank screen upon which desperate masses are projecting all their stuff. Projection is just more engagement in illusion -- putting the responsibility for real change on something/someone outside ourselves, instead of doing the hard work of changing from within, changing our perceptions, and then acting on it.

People are fearful right now about the economy. The reality of the climate crisis is looming. Our society is about to change in big ways -- the only question to be determined is whether it will change in positive ways (because people do the work of changing from within and allowing big changes to happen within our nation) or whether it will change in bad ways (because people cling to their fears and the possibility of a savior and demand that the military be used to protect our materialistic "very way of life").

I am right with you about the need for the change to be internal and I am working now, and will continue to work to make sure that the direction in which we move is a positive direction. Since 2004 I have been energetically involved in simplifying my life, putting the responsibility on me, changing my perceptions and acting on it - and I support Obama.

Never Give Up.
