Instant Karma

Instant karmas gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon youre gonna be dead
What in the world you thinking of
Laughing in the face of love
What on earth you tryin to do
Its up to you, yeah you

Instant karmas gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darlin
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see
Laughin at fools like me
Who in the hell dyou think you are
A super star
Well, right you are

Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Evryone come on

Instant karmas gonna get you
Gonna knock you off your feet
Better recognize your brothers
Evryone you meet
Why in the world are we here
Surely not to live in pain and fear
Why on earth are you there
When youre evrywhere
Come and get your share

Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Yeah we all shine on
Come on and on and on on on
Yeah yeah, alright, uh huh, ah

(Note: I just voted in the rural upstate village near me. The polling place did not open until noon, and so I had a few minutes to walk to a corner store to get a newspaper. I was counting the businesses on the main street that have closed in the past decade, and thinking of how different it is for young people today compared to when I was their age.

When I got in line to go inside, there were ten other people. One was a man even older than me, and he was saying how the country cannot afford any more republican policies. A lady told him that there could be no "politicing" near the polling place. He said he had two minutes to talk before the polls opened. I suggested that we change the subject, and just talk about how many local businesses were closed. Another person began to list area industries that were laying people off.

Although we live in a republican region, all of us were that were there when the doors opened were democrats. There were young and old folks there.

It felt good!)

1. PS:
I enjoyed listening to "Instant Karma" on the drive to and from the poll.

I recommend it.

Life is too short, a wise man used to say.

(And is wasted on fighting).

5. "I have always thought
that it's a crime ..."

A big part of my decision today was based upon my view on the approach that each candidate takes towards conflict.

8. Normal?
Rural upstate New York?

I thought the poll would be open from morning to night. Of course, in my community, I am not considered normal. (grin)

11. We have set hours where polls open at 7 am. A lot of folks vote before work.

12. Right.
I had considered getting there after getting the kids off to school. Before retiring, I often voted before work. I thought it was strange.

9. One of the things
that I consider is the tone of each campaign. I know that there are people in every campaign that will say or do things that are out of line, and one hopes the candidate then steps in. But the general tone is set by the candidate.

I was not happy when the Governor Richardson had contacted the Clinton campaign last week, to say he was preparing to endorse Obama, and was then subjected to intense pressure to not make the endorsement. I understand that Bill Clinton has had a long relationship with Richardson, but if you really respect another person, you don't pressure them to not speak their mind.

14. Now That's Interesting
I did not know that, was that why they watched the superbowl together? It seemed an odd photo shoot, them sitting there stiffly in their suits.

16. It's an odd thing.
I think it indicates that Richardson is kind of a Humphrey-like chartacter, who is not able to stand up to a larger personality.

19. That, but this also...
Recent polls have flipped the advantage to Obama in New Mexico...even prior to Super Sunday's football game. I think that might have given Bill some pause, too.

But I agree with you, make an endorsement regardless.

23. Right.
His endorsement could also have made some difference in a state like California. As I noted in another post on this thread,he reminds me somewhat of a Hubert Humphrey-like character. He has political skills that are of great value, but he lacks something that is needed to be president.

10. Dems turnouts have been larger than theirs in every single race so far
The narrative "divided in half" for the GE will ba a bit harder to make (but it'll be made anyway)

15. The rural upstate
counties in NYS are overwhelmingly republican. In November, they always come out in large numbers, much like horse flies in August. I'll be interested in seeing how many republicans turn out for the primary contest. It would seem hard to be excited about their choices.

21. Ice
My driveway is an old stretch of the Catskill Turnpike (or Susquehanna Turnpike, if you are heading east). There are some springs up on the hill that are flowing down our driveway, and it was also a sheet of ice. I am convinced that the driveway is significantly longer in the winter months than in the summer.

18. What a Wonderful World...
I voted Edwards to day...and I heard
Louie Armstrong on the radio singing
"What a Wonderful World"
Then I went out on the back deck and
there was an American Eagle sitting
high up in a tree...
First time I ever saw an eagle near my house...
It was a moment...ye kin?

What A Wonderful World
~ Louis Armstrong

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world

dropped out, I was most likely going to vote for John Edwards. I can understand and appreciate why people are still voting for him.

Eagles are most impressive.

24. I love that song

Eagles are awesome. I have not seen any near my house, but we do have blue herons

:hi:

P.S. in Ohio we don't vote until March 4th. It should be interesting to see how super duper Tuesday turns out for the candidates.

25. Blue herons
are wonderful. One of my friends found a large piece of a comb on a Meadowood site (about 700 bc) that was in a great blue heron motif. People have found these birds fascinating for a long time.

26. Quite fascinating birds
They have an extremely large wingspan, yet are so graceful. I like how they tuck in their necks when they fly.
