It was for Gore in 2000. We all know how that one turned out.

I voted the first time by absentee ballot while in the military and in Southeast Asia. 1970. Very first race was a vote FOR Lloyd Bentsen for US Senator.
Glad to see you're voting. It's yours, all yours, and no one else's.

I wish I could remember the day when my (General Election) vote actually counted in this state, but that has never kept me from exercising my right on election day.

7. You already know your vote didn't count |

But don't give up, because when it really does count it will be switched. We need everyone that thinks their vote does not count to make a difference.

I remember my first vote, and how excited I was. I'm still excited about voting this year.
Your candidate isn't mine, but I'm very glad you're part of the democratic process!

It's a great feeling. My daughter will be able to cast her first vote in November. I am putting this in my favorites to show her when she gets home from school. We need young people like you. Way to go!

26. I'll never forget the first time I voted! |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 02:20 PM by Cybergata
I was 19 years old and it was the first time that people aged 18 to 20 could vote. I voted for Shirley Chisholm and for the ERA amendment. I haven't since been able to vote for something or someone that I believed in as strongly as I did in both the person and the issue.
Last primary I voted for Dennis and I was hoping to vote for John Edwards this time around. Again, I feel like it is the lesser of two simply because I've made sure to see who is giving each their money. We are at a place where the status quo, where the people who have control of the candidates and control who we end up being able to vote for MUST end or all hope of ever having democracy has ended. The media determined and paid for the choices we have.
Oh no, I meant to be positive for someone who voted for the first time. I'm just really depressed and fearful for the future of this country... NO for the enitre future of humanity. I guess it is true, all hopes of Democracy in this country was killed by the Supreme Court with the 2000 election. Commercials will probably continue to tell us who to vote for and to buy things we don't need, and the majority of people will do just what they are told.
