AZ robocall for Clinton (well against Obama by the Clinton campaign)
http://hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com/archives/2008/02/az_robocall_hit.html#comments

AZ Robocall Hits Obama On Social Security
Per NJ Contributing Editor Linda Douglass, this call is reportedly going out to Arizona voters:

WOMAN: This is Ann calling on behalf of Hillary Clinton for President. Hillary Clinton has been a tireless fighter for seniors . Barack Obama has said when it comes to Social Security all options should be put on the table. That includes raising the retirement age and cutting benefits. He has even proposed raising Social Security taxes by a trillion dollars. Hillary Clinton stood up to Bush’s plan to privatize Social Security and is against raising the retirement age. When you go to the polls tomorrow cast your vote for the Democrat committed to protecting Social Security as we know it: Hillary Clinton.

1. my sister in MO got a similar mailing yesterday
She was furious - the implication was that he'd raise SS taxes on *everyone*, not just those above the cap. Very misleading.

My 72 year old mother is caucusing for Obama tonight because she likes his proposal to eliminate income taxes for seniors who make under 50K a year. That's something solid to help them, Senator Clinton.

2. You mean to tell me
that a politician's campaign is actually making robocalls? Here in 2008? and telling the person about an issue where the candidate differs with another candidate, and says that the candidate for whom the call is being made is better on that issue? And that the person being called should vote for the candidate for whom the call is being made?

Wow, what dirty politics.

:sarcasm: just in case it wasn't obvious

7. I am shocked. SHOCKED!!!
See I thought Clinton would be out there telling everyone how great Obama is, and that Obama would be out there telling everyone how great Clinton is.

6. Ann WHO??? Jack Nicholson is robo-calling, but who is gonna sit through
a call from some ANN?

Sounds like disinfo to me! If people are getting RILED about the call, perhaps it is DESIGNED to rile lazy or 'unlikely voter' Obama supporters to get out and vote?

Sometimes things aren't always what they seem on the surface.

13. I got Hillary's negative robo call in CT and a postive one for Obama
Obama's call was from the CT Dem party treasurer or something like that and only mentioned postive things about change, a new way of doing things in Washington, bringing the country together. I got Hillary's negative mailing as well. I don't mind postive calls and mailings but I don't like distortion.

14. And that is why so many Democrats have had it with them
I am so sick of the Clintons approach, which is say anything to gain advantage today, and do it when it's too late for anyone to prove they're lying. AGAIN.

Go Teddy. Go Obama. Save the party from the Clintons.

18. Exactly what I told Mr. Debi
We know what kind of a White House we'll have with the Clintons there. With Obama we have a chance at it being better.

27. the leopard cannot change his spots
And the Clintons cannot change their mindset. It's destructive to the party in the primary. Teddy was right to call them down on it.

...they have the same ethic, though.

Rove was just more effective at it.

28. Penn demanding one debate a week from now til March 4th
If he cut his consulting fees maybe Clinton could afford to advertise in the upcoming states and not rely on free media.

Hold a fucking love-fest on national television and then do the negative mail/calls. No two faces about it!

19. Yep
Negative mail pieces mailed out and negative robocalls made BEFORE the public can react in anger. Of course it could back-fire on her in the Feb 9th and Feb. 12th states.

24. LOL
there's nothing dirty about it at all.

It's a call outlining differences between the candidates - it's done all the time.

The fake outrage over something like this is humorous.
