Swooning Obama supporters unable to name a single accomplishment
video at link...
yeah, I know..Taylor Marsh..but the Obama folks seem to love those frank Luntz focus groups, so here we go...
http://www.taylormarsh.com/archives_view.php?id=26949

"It doesn't get more brutal than this.

When asked to name one accomplishment of Barack Obama, supporters ready to vote for him sat in stunned silence, mute, unable to come up with anything. It says it all.

But some will remain in their word hope swoon. Eugene Robinson comes to mind. He proves the statistic Dan Abrams offered last night on his show, which illustrated that 75% of Bill Clinton's press coverage has been negative. Mr. Robinson adds to it today, once again proving that he's another traditional media man who's not only obsessed with Bill, but has the deep imbedded Hillary hatred we're likely to see on news outlets later today.

... .. Democrats are generally amenable to Bill Clinton's return, as they were four months ago. Republicans, unsurprisingly, are increasingly opposed. But the most significant change of opinion since October came among independents, whose view has flipped from positive to negative -- a finding that all but screams to the eventual Republican nominee: "Push this button. Hard." ... ..

The Baggage Hillary Bears

Clinton's no doubt got bagged. It's the media. It's people like Robinson, as well as Margaret Carlson, who don't want the Clinton's back in Washington. Like many other pundits, they write their columns then go on news shows in the guise of offering "unbiased" analysis, then regurgitate swill and drivel against all things Hillary that even Keith Olbermann's "Countdown" is presenting. At least Dan Abrams calls out his guests and asks if they're backing a candidate. Olbermann never does, something that is clearly wrong, if not unethical. It's not hatred. It's down right dishonesty, duplicity, bending the audience's trust. On the Olbermann score, this gives me no pleasure to say. But this primary cycle, we've been insulted by pundit after pundit tilting towards Obama, if not in his camp outright, but who preen and posture as an unbiased talking head on cable shows across the spectrum. Carville and Begala got yanked for being in Clinton's camp, but at least everyone was aware of it. Not so with Obama's talking army that flies under the radar. That's Clinton's real baggage, the media duplicity and deceit, which is far more damaging than Bill could ever be. We're likely to be treated to it again if the delegate count is close tonight, which it well may be. Obama will get praise, while no matter what Clinton does her efforts will be downplayed, likely even in favor of Obama. That would be fine if the pundits doing the talking were declared and everyone knew that they are pushing Obama. But that won't happen and there will be no one for Clinton on any panel in sight. You know the drill. It's likely Mr. Robinson will be there to chime in.

I'd like to ask Robinson to name one accomplishment of Barack Obama's. That would be must-see tv".

18. Actually, as I wrote this morning, Clinton's campaign is the real cult
of personality. All built around the Clinton myth. It's clear that most of her supporters support her because she's a woman, and they feel it's time for a female president.

Obama is a "Rock Star" who inspires a cult like following of worshippers who apologize for everything he does wrong and insist that he is perfect.

120. its time to ditch the DLC
Hillary is a member of the DLC, Democratic Leadership Council that abandoned real
democratic views, turned the democratic party into republican-lite.

The DLC is FOR the Iraq War - solidly.

That is why Hillary can't say it was wrong to vote for it.

The DLC is anti-populist - also not democratic.

122. I am of Jewish background and my girlfriend is Arab
We share a Semitic identity in common and see the parallels between today's anti-Arab hysteria and the anti-Semitism of yesteryear. In fact, this is a frequent topic of discussion among all of my Arab friends.

Religion has nothing to do with it. Jew or Arab, Christian or Muslim, White racists see the Semitic person as a swarthy rug-merchant, an unscrupulous and untrustworthy character edging in on businesses that are "rightfully" theirs. More germane to this "discussion," the White power structure has historically played Black vs. Semite in his eternal quest to divide and conquer the "inferior" races. Your candidate bringing "slumlord" into the MLK day debate was yet another example of this.

Obama's mentor praised Louis Farrakhan a "man" who has called Judaism a "gutter religion". If there is any kind of race war in America, Farrakhan, you, me, and my girlfriend will be among the first to be targeted. I fear the Anglo-Saxon Christian more than any other race/religion, because they actually control the money and the guns the way they say Jews do.

68. yes, let's DO list her accomplishments.....
to mention a few:

Her first cause was children, fighting abuse, and chairing the Children's Defense Fund.

# During 1974 she was a member of the Nixon impeachment inquiry staff in Washington D.C., advising the House Committee on the Judiciary during the Watergate scandal. She helped research procedures of impeachment and the historical grounds and standards for impeachment.

# Hillary co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, a state-level alliance with the Children's Defense Fund, in 1977.

# In late 1977, President Jimmy Carter appointed her to the board of directors of the Legal Services Corporation.

# Bill Clinton appointed her chair of the Rural Health Advisory Committee where she successfully obtained federal funds to expand medical facilities in Arkansas' poorest areas without affecting doctors' fees.

# One of the most important initiatives of the entire Clinton governorship, she fought a prolonged but ultimately successful battle against the Arkansas Education Association to put mandatory teacher testing as well as state standards for curriculum and classroom size in place.

# She introduced Arkansas' Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youth in 1985, a program that helps parents work with their children in preschool preparedness and literacy.

# in 1997 she helped establish the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and the Adoption and Safe Families Act.

# As a Senator and after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Hillary worked with her colleagues to secure the funds New York needed to recover and rebuild.

# She fought to provide compensation to the families of the victims, grants for hard-hit small businesses, and health care for front line workers at Ground Zero.

# She is the first New Yorker ever to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

# She has visited troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in countless other locations, truly understanding the challenges facing our troops.

# Hillary passed legislation to track the health status of our troops so that conditions like Gulf War Syndrome would no longer be misdiagnosed.

# She is an original sponsor of legislation that expanded health benefits to members of the National Guard and Reserves and has been a strong critic of the Administration's handling of Iraq.

# She has introduced legislation to tie Congressional salary increases to an increase in the minimum wage.

# She has supported a variety of middle-class tax cuts, including marriage penalty relief, property tax relief, and reduction in the Alternative Minimum Tax, and supports fiscally responsible pay-as-you-go budget rules.

# She helped pass legislation that encouraged investment to create jobs in struggling communities through the Renewal Communities program.

# She authored legislation that has been enacted to improve quality and lower the cost of prescription drugs and to protect our food supply from bioterrorism.

# She sponsored legislation to increase America's commitment to fighting the global HIV/AIDS crisis.

# She has lead the fight for the expanded use of information technology in the health care system to decrease administrative costs, lower premiums, and reduce medical errors.

# Clinton has successfully worked to ensure the safety of prescription drugs for children, with legislation now included in the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act.

# She has also proposed expanding access to child care.

# She has passed legislation that will bring more qualified teachers into classrooms and more outstanding principals to lead our schools.

# Hillary is one of the original cosponsors of the Prevention First Act to increase access to family planning.

# She fought with the Bush Administration and ensured that Plan B, an emergency contraceptive, will be available to millions of American women and will reduce the need for abortions.

# She introduced the Count Every Vote Act of 2005 to ensure better protection of votes and to ensure that every vote is counted.

I could go on but why make you look more of an ass than you already do.

75. Here's a couple of them......

107. Living abroad gives you something very important .....
.... it is called perspective. And that is a very nice tool to have especially in dealing
with a complex world.

Obama was on the record as opposing Iraq from the get go and saying
that his votes for funding after that negates his actions does not hold water.

<On March 17, 2003, the day Bush issued his 48-hour ultimatum to Saddam Hussein to leave Iraq before the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Obama addressed the largest Chicago anti-Iraq War rally to date in Daley Plaza and told the crowd "It's not too late" to stop the war, though many demonstrators conceded that war appeared inevitable.>

He was a kid for the love of Christ! You don't have very much perspective at that age, and very little of it carries over into adulthood. Now if he had been a teen, then that would be something to talk about... However, he was a kid who did not go there by choice. Accomplishments occur by choice -- not by route or default. :eyes:

Reading, writing, math, spacial concepts, linguist skills, and much more.

And all those "skills" can help your perspective as an adult. And as an adult
Sen. Obama has had many accomplishments that would help in being POTUS.

The fact that he was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review made me take note.

The fact that he fought to make Illinois police record all interrogations and confessions is what really impressed me, though. Read through this article if you want to see why: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/03/AR2008010303303.html

And then there's the landmark ethics reform he was able to achieve in Illinois. And of course, the Coburn-Obama Transparency Act that he was able to pass in the United States Senate that was responsible for putting all government spending up in an online database ( http://www.usaspending.gov/ )so that citizens and watchdog groups can start holding the government more accountable.

And, of course, he spoke out against the war in Iraq in 2002.

Which reminds me of Senator Clinton's greatest accomplishment...

*cough*

I know I am new here, but the sanity of the Edwards supporters helped me decide to register. But I am yet to read any posts that actually have spoken of the experience or accomplishments of Obama. It sums up how clueless these people are. I came here supporting Hillary and will go down on that ship as I can see the handwriting on the wall.

When ever a candidates supporters are so clueless (or are they down right reckless? I am not sure), that they have to resort to grade school bullying name calling, banning, ignoring. You know you are in trouble.

If you can not see the imminent death of our republic you are probably supporting Obama. Well unless that is your true motivation.

there with Gore's speech of Jan. 16, 2006 to the DAR at Constitutional Hall! I have lived sixty years watching presidential candidates' promises go by the wayside once in office. It's an extreme pleasure to me to hear Sen. Obama speak with a passion about our Republic as did the Founding Fathers. Crucify me for that over listening to convoluted details of issues that most likely will not happen as candidates have laid out. Speeches I've cited are few and far between and are highly regarded because they are much more than political talking points. IMHO

37.  If the mass cult of Obama supporters knew what they were
voting for rather than just get out there and vote because of the hype and hysteria then it would be a good thing . It's not about voter turnout when the voter has nothing to back up their reasons for voting .

People look at this now as some sort of game to tally up the numbers , how is this going to get this counrty fixed .

I followed Obama's voting record and most times he votes last of does not vote at all . With this he has played it safe and that is not a good thing .

I don't agree with Hillary's position on many issues but neither were my choice from the start .

What really bugs me is the talk about moving into the future while they drag the names from the past along with them , brand names of old timers . That makes no sense other than expose the cult like mentality going on . People are blind to things that are there right in front of their faces .

I made a post asking what the young voters wanted to see in the future since they talk about the future and it is theirs not mine but got not one response . Lots of views but not one answer .

Managed to get elected Senator and become the Democratic frontrunner without constantly pandering or compromising his progressive values.

Obamites refuse to recognize that St. Obama has a voting record. It is the same as Hillary's. You can't say Hillary compromised her progressive values and call her a centrist and then call Obama a shining example beacon of progressivism when they vote the same way 90% of the time and are equally as progressive or centrist in their voting records.

You have to look at their entire careers. I know Hillary has been voting more liberal for the last year or two because she knew she was going to have a problem winning the primary if she didn't move left. But still, group after group like the LCV, ACLU, and all organizations that track who is the more progressive show that Obama has a more progressive voting record even in the Senate. There's really no question here. You're trying too hard.

-After a number of inmates on death row were found innocent,
Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require
the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all
capital cases.

-His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a
measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every
American to go online and see how and where every dime of
their tax dollars is spent.

-Obama created the Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit for
low-income working families in 2000 and successfully sponsored
a measure to make the credit permanent in 2003. The law
offered about $105 million in tax relief over three years.

-Obama joined forces with former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon (D-IL)
to pass the toughest campaign finance law in Illinois history.
The legislation banned the personal use of campaign money by
Illinois legislators and banned gifts from lobbyists. Before
the law was passed, one organization ranked Illinois worst
among 50 states for its campaign finance regulations.

-As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama
has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay
they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the
return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after
Iraq and Afghanistan.

-He traveled to Russia with Republican **** Lugar to begin a
new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find
and secure deadly weapons around the world.

-Obama has been a leading advocate for protecting the right to
vote, helping to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act and leading
the opposition against discriminatory barriers to voting.

- In the U.S. Senate, Obama introduced the STOP FRAUD Act to
increase penalties for mortgage fraud and provide more
protections for low-income homebuyers, well before the current
subprime crisis began.

-Obama sponsored legislation to combat predatory payday loans,
and he also was credited with lobbied the state to more
closely regulate some of the most egregious predatory lending
practices.

-Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to
provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase
the number of full-time workers in America relative to those
outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in
America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement;
provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in
the military.

-Obama worked to pass a number of laws in Illinois and
Washington to improve the health of women. His accomplishments
include creating a task force on cervical cancer, providing
greater access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, and
helping improve prenatal and premature birth services.

-Obama has introduced and helped pass bipartisan legislation
to limit the abuse of no-bid federal contracts.

-Obama and Senator Feingold (D-WI) took on both parties and
proposed ethics legislation that was described as the
"gold standard" for reform. It was because of their
leadership that ending subsidized corporate jet travel,
mandating disclosure of lobbyists' bundling of contributions,
and enacting strong new restrictions of lobbyist-sponsored
trips became part of the final ethics bill that was signed
into law.

I really could list many, many more but I fear it would be too
much to take in at one time. I hope this helps some of you
know him a little better

Gotta love it that your reply has no other replies yet, because you're actually providing some information that was asked for, not inciting more flame war. /sigh

Thank you.

106. Every word of this is true with re: to MSM and
it pains me to see Keith doing it. I haven't watched him since his disgraceful behavior the night of SC. I even wrote to tell him what a great disappointment he has turned out to be. He's perfect for a job at Fixed Noise now.

What has GE paid them all to do this? Who would have thought Abrams would be the only one with ANY ethics left?

Olbermann should be ashamed of himself. All pundits and so called 'guests' of GE has been bought and sold. Never again will I watch.

Starry-eyed from "feel good" rhetoric, substance is not relevant to Obamas.

Clinton supporters KNOW Clinton: a completely different dynamic.

118. Olbermann likes his Constitution and Democracy,
but he doesn't like uppity women. I have emailed him on two occasions asking why he keeps giving Britney and Paris air time...after all there must be something else more important than infotainment.

The third time I emailed him, he had me BLOCKED! Can't take the heat, get out of the studio, big boy.

Keith doesn't like criticism especially from women...we are to bow and kiss his ring.

Surely not.

Just because you, and they, don't know his accomplishments, does not make them less. Ask the prisoners who confess in Illinois without getting the stuffing beat out of them, thanks to his bill requiring videotaped confessions. For one.

has repeatedly reminded voters that his presidential campaign does not accept contributions from lobbyists or political action committees, casting his decision as a noble departure from the ways of Washington.

He hit the theme hard again in Tuesday's Democratic debate in Chicago as he sought to capitalize on rival Hillary Clinton

's remark last weekend that taking lobbyists' cash is acceptable because they "represent real Americans."

"The people in this stadium need to know who we're going to fight for," Obama said at Soldier Field. "The reason that I'm running for president is because of you, not because of folks who are writing big checks, and that's a clear message that has to be sent, I think, by every candidate."

But behind Obama's campaign rhetoric about taking on special interests lies a more complicated truth. A Globe review of Obama's campaign finance records shows that he collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from lobbyists and PACs as a state legislator in Illinois, a US senator, and a presidential aspirant.

In Obama's eight years in the Illinois Senate, from 1996 to 2004, almost two-thirds of the money he raised for his campaigns - $296,000 of $461,000 - came from PACs, corporate contributions, or unions, according to Illinois Board of Elections records. He tapped financial services firms, real estate developers, healthcare providers, oil companies, and many other corporate interests, the records show.

Obama's US Senate campaign committee, starting with his successful run in 2004, has collected $128,000 from lobbyists and $1.3 million from PACs, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonprofit organization that tracks money in politics. His $1.3 million from PACs represents 8 percent of what he has raised overall. Clinton's Senate committee, by comparison, has raised $3 million from PACs, 4 percent of her total amount raised, the group said.

In addition, Obama's own federal PAC, Hopefund, took in $115,000 from 56 PACs in the 2005-2006 election cycle out of $4.4 million the PAC raised, according to CQ MoneyLine, which collects Federal Election Commission data. Obama then used those PAC contributions - including thousands from defense contractors, law firms, and the securities and insurance industries - to build support for his presidential run by making donations to Democratic Party organizations and candidates around the country.

Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that after seeing the influence of lobbyists firsthand during his two years in Washington, Obama decided before he entered the presidential race that he would take a different approach to fund-raising than he had in the past.

"He's leading by example and taking steps that he feels need to be taken on the national stage to clean up the undue influence of Washington lobbyists on the policies and priorities of Washington," Psaki said. "His leadership on this issue is an evolving process."

Psaki said Obama believes that healthcare lobbyists have blocked progress toward universal health coverage, and that oil company lobbyists have blocked badly needed changes to America's energy policies.

Though Obama has returned thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from registered federal lobbyists since he declared his candidacy in February, his presidential campaign has maintained ties with lobbyists and lobbying firms to help raise some of the $58.9 million he collected through the first six months of 2007.

Obama has raised more than $1.4 million from members of law and consultancy firms led by partners who are lobbyists, The Los Angeles Times reported last week. And The Hill, a Washington newspaper, reported earlier this year that Obama's campaign had reached out to lobbyists' networks to use their contacts to help build his fund-raising base.

This activity, along with Obama's past contributions from lobbyists and PACs, has drawn fire from opposing campaigns. Some political analysts say Obama, by casting himself as an uncorrupted good-government crusader, has set himself up for charges of hypocrisy.

133. Since Hillary and Bill are a twosome let's look at what she and he have accomplished together:
NAFTA, CAFTA, Communications Bill of 1996 Act, and outsourcing to India that Bill and Hillary have supported -

voting for the Iraq War to invade - not to help protect the troops after they are all ready there -

Her vote of the so-called "Lieberman-Kyl" resolution on Iran.

Now for Obama's accomplishments:

Obama, Schiff Provision to Create Nuclear Threat Reduction Plan Approved

Obama Introduces Bill To Prevent Veterans Homelessness

Obama Demands Answers on Blackwater Immunity Deal

Obama Joins Senators to Introduce Legislation to Prohibit Industry-Funded Travel for Federal Regulators

And finally and not least of these:

Ethics and Lobbying Reform that he initiated!!!!

More at this link:

http://obama.senate.gov/issues/ethics_and_lobbying_reform/

For this and for the reasoning that we need a future and not a past with old markers to be paid -

I support Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I am posting this in a separate message)

This is an extraordinary telling gaffe. It can not be brushed aside nor should it be.We're talking about the most powerful position in the world and Baracks supporters have no clue who they are voting for or why.

The cult of personality can not be the deciding factor in this race.

It just can't.
