Obama Wins the Care2 Presidential Primary! Share Your Thoughts.

http://www.care2.com/politics/obama-wins-the-care2-presidential.html

02/05/08 - Posted by Emily LoganIt's Super Tuesday! As America votes, Care2 is happy to announce the results of the first ever Care2 Presidential Primary. Of the 11,426 votes from Care2 members in the past week, Barack Obama was the clear winner with 34 percent! Hillary Clinton came in second with 26 percent.

Ron Paul came out above all of the other Republican candidates with 15 percent of the votes. Here are the full results:
Barack Obama 34%
Hillary Clinton 26%
John Edwards (withdrawn) 17%
Ron Paul 15%
John McCain 3%
Mitt Romney 3%
Mike Huckabee 2%
Rudy Giuliani (withdrawn) 1%

Many of you commented wondering why we chose to list the candidates we did, and why we didn't include a slot for write-in candidates. The sad truth is that we were limited by our poll tool, which only allows eight possible answers and does not allow write-ins.

When the poll was posted on Tuesday, Kucinich had already dropped out of the race, but Edwards and Giuliani were still in. When the two of them dropped out on Wednesday, we decided to note that they had dropped out, but not take them off completely, which would severely complicate the calculation of percentages.

As for third-party candidates, we plan to include all viable candidates in the fall (the ones who are on enough state ballots to win the 270 electoral votes), but for now we were focusing on the Democrats and Republicans since Americans are voting on them right now.

We know that Care2 members are passionate about this presidential race, and 610 of you left comments on the primary with your thoughts on the candidates. Now we want to hear more! Did you vote today? Why did you vote the way you did? Did you have a good experience at the polls? What was frustrating to you, and what was encouraging for you? What do you think of the media's coverage so far? Please join our Super Tuesday open thread by commenting on this post.
