Since in February of 2004, he set things up real nice for......

I don't.

for a lot of idiocies to be spouted by both party - I forgot about that one!

then there wouldn't be 2 conservative judges sitting on my Supreme Court for the rest of the fucking life....where any case dealing with Gay Marriage is gonna end up.

If you can't see that, I'm sorry for you.

I don't fault the Gay Community.
I fault a certain Mayor that took it upon himself to bring the issue to the fore.

I remember the times well.

So evidently it's ok to hope for something as long as you don't stand up for it?

Guess you didn't really care to actually get something accomplished?

Can you tell me what was done that advance the cause of the Gay community by Gavin Newsome?

but before that, decided in February of 2004 to allow Gays to marry. That was a nice thing to do, just bad timing.

The result of Mr. Newsome's inpiration?

He's worse than George W. Bush. Apparently Gavin Newsom is worse than Hitler and it's a sign of integrity that Obama refused to have his photo taken with him!

18. Do you loathe all the Republicans that Obama reaches out to just as much?
Why is it ok for Obama to have his picture taken smiling and shaking hands with some of the worst people on earth but it's good that he dissed Gavin Newsom because Newsom isn't really all that progressive?

24. It's a different scene
I admit that much of my disdain for Newsom is personal. No national republican has ever blown me off when I tried to say hello to him at an event. Gavin Newsom has lied to me on a more direct level on something I have personally worked on here in San Francisco. I often wonder about what kind of politician he would be like if he were on the national scene and didn't represent me so directly.

Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 06:37 PM by Cant trust em
Newsom freely admits, "It's been a little awkward with the Kerry campaign, '' adding that "the last thing (Kerry) needs is being seen close to me.''

Why?

"Because you'd all ask about 'the issue' -- gay marriage,'' Newsom said. "And I don't think this candidate wants to answer that question.

"We're respectful of that,'' Newsom added. "We'll stay in the background -- you know, arrive late, exit early and move on.''

But now that it's Super Tuesday let's make hay about this for the candidate I didn't endorse.

36. Yeah, because we all know that allowing gay marriage sets gay marriage back
:wtf:

If you say it was the wrong time for Newsom to give gay couples equal rights, than when would the right time for equal rights be? Somehow I have a feeling that if he had waited until after 2004 people would be telling him to wait until after 2006, then wait until after 2008, 2010, and on and on and on. If everyone waited for the right political moment then we would never make progress on anything controversial.

And by the way it is wrong to blame gays seeking equal rights for George Bush. Period.

Meanwhile, back in 2004 she's just as silent and absent on the issue as were all the other national Democrats letting Newsom twist in the wind out there alone. At least she finally had that picture made with Mayor Newsom three and a half years after the fact demonstrating that she will stand by you when she needs you most.
