The Clinton Dynasty: A Political Obituary
Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 07:47 PM by JackRiddler
Ah, I just thought that sounded like a cool title.

Today on NPR they had call-ins. Clinton has a big organization in New York, and all of the callers supporting her were off the same script: She's got "experience," whereas Obama doesn't know foreign policy. The second-to-last caller was for Clinton, and decried how Obama would be like Nader, because he was damaging Clinton by persisting in his disobedient campaign against her. The last caller then announced that she had been undecided, but was convinced by the previous caller to go with Obama, because of the arrogance and righteousness of the Clinton forces and their dynastic dreams.

I think the sense in the Clinton campaign that she is the divine-right candidate shone through a little too obviously for her own good, and did decisive damage. On this board, I saw probably hundreds of posts (generally from the same people) claiming that if you do not vote for her, you are a misogynist. The Obama forces were just smart enough to avoid claiming an analogous logic.

We have to assume you are just spouting the unofficial line of the campaign.

And yes, it matters.

I don't like it, I don't like him.

Of everyone who can still win, he wins the I don't like him least prize.

I won't like whatever political mafia he brings in.

I just want to see the Bush-Clinton-Bush political mafia I've been stuck with for twenty years GO AWAY.

11. Jack, you have already told us all--in another thread--that if your candidate...
does not win, you will NOT vote for the Dem candidate in November.

Your continuing efforts to belittle another candidate will not sit well with the supporters of that candidate. Worst part is that you don't seem to care about your country, your Constitution, or your SCOTUS.

You seem perfectly willing, should your candidate fail, to let the country sink beneath the sea. Your sucessive threads about how you will not vote for candidate A, B, or C, are turning off the very people you are trying to convince to vote for Brand X, your candidate.

Lets say that your Brand X wins today. Lets assume that as a result, Brand X gets the nomination. Now we come to November and you find only half the party votes for Brand X. In such a case Jack--you lose bigtime. So do the rest of us.

Time for Jack et al, to sit in a quiet place and think carefully what the cost to us all could be because of their actions.

5. The Obama forces' logic
Completely analogous to your narrative.

So, when did Hillary declare that she is the divine-right candidate? She didn't. The press said it. Hundreds of times.

And Barack Obama has said, on many occasions, "Our Time Is Now".

Looks like he may be right. After all, most early advantages do turn to victory. Only 9 months to coast to a grand victory in the GE!

17. The word Hillary's campaign used was "inevitable"
and have use it since early 07

They realized it was not inevitable after Iowa

And I have to say; anyone that attributes the personality traits of anonymous posters that support a particular candidate (either one) to that candidate make themselves look very foolish and uneducated.

But it's an EXCELLENT night for Democracy!

strategic carefully presented candidate Hillary with Bill the attack dog.

One of the big stories of this campaign will be that if the Clintons had thrown away all of the polls and the triangulation and had actually run Hillary the person she would have won early and it would have been over by now.

28. "rumors of her death...."
Don't count the Clintons out before it's over. The only way for the Clinton dominance of the Dem party to end will be through a Hillary loss in November, or an Obama win.

So keep the wraps on that obit until the ides of November, eh...

31. I do not understand why some Obama supporters are so eager to
shit on the Clinton years?

Why are they so eager to rip apart a popular successful two term Democratic president? And I don't understand the venom directed at a woman who has withstood 16 years of dispicable Republican attacks. I don't get it.

You are not just tear down the Clintons. You are in effect helping to tear down our party. If Obama and his movement are all they are cracke dup to be it shouldn't be necessary to diminish the Clinton politcal accomplishments to spotlight his own.

32. Some of the Kool-Aid is being served on the Left
Hating the Clintons has had a high "hipness factor" since the 1990s. You can't hang with the cool kids unless you diss the Big Dog and The Bitch (yes, I've actually heard them described that way, and more than once). Some of the stuff from the Counterpunch left is easily as crazed as from the wingnut right.
