Traffic jam to get to a Kansas Caucus location - backed up in all directions. |

:)
My Mom called all excited because she can't believe the traffic trying to get to a caucus location in Overland Park, KS.
She did get a call from the Obama campaign telling her to be there at 6:30 - and she would have been but everyone is just slowly rolling.
I don't think they had any idea how huge the turnout was going to be tonight. It is at a church. It is miles away from her house which I thought was weird because I'm in Iowa and ours is at the neighborhood school. IMO They needed more caucus locations. They obviously didn't have any idea how huge turnout was going to be tonight.
She was so happy but the doors are supposed to close at 7:00 and everybody needs to get in there.
:toast:
The Democratic Party is throwing a Party and everyone is showing up!
edit to add:
She parked on a side street and walked to the location. She said the line is huge and goes on and on outside the church. She said there is still tons traffic with people trying to get there. Anyone in line at 7:00 must be let in. I wonder if they can do anything else.
She said to the man behind her that she didn't think there were this many Democrats in Kansas. He responded that there weren't before Bush.

How impressive. I hope your Mom gets there before the polling place closes.

6. Well, that is how a caucus works. They obviously needed more locations. |

Not enough sleep, I thought it was a primary even though the OP clearly said it was caucus. Sorry!

5. Hope she makes it in. It's real bad when the planning by the state lets it's people down. |

9. This was just about one of the most exciting experiences I have ever had |
|
Your mom was right. The line was 6 blocks long. They expected 100 and got 1200. The cops told us there were 5000. (We always knew they couldn't count crowds LOL)
What an awesome awesome evening. I absolutely loved it. It started raining ICE and people stayed there, in the cold and the rain, waiting for their chance to vote.
