I miss John Edwards
For me, the "fire" went out of this election when John suspended his campaign. REAL issues that needed to be addressed now wont be.
As little air time as John got, this last week has been even more brutal in the media about the Democratic nominees.
This election is now an old fashioned slug fest. It's mean & it is nasty.
I really am just so uninspired by the two remaining candidates. I know a lot of you heartily support one or the other, and I respect that.
But, for me, I'll just be voting whoever the nominee is. It's a pretty sad feeling knowing that 8+ months out.

"The other guy who dropped out this week I have the highest regards for. John Edwards. That is his platform that they are running on. He worked his ass off. He never got enough oxygen with those two show ponies in the race. It was like being on the red carpet when George Clooney shows up." - Bill Maher

4. Same here
Edwards was the only real Democrat running. No hands across the aisle bi-partisanship, nor latte liberal, but a champion of core Democratic Principles.

The time for REAL Progressives is coming.....

Time to get more active in the anti-poverty movement. My son and I both belong to ONE.org, and we are expecting to get more involved. We can advance John's message without him being president. That's what I'm taking from this, anyway.

"I'll just be voting whoever the nominee is. It's a pretty sad feeling knowing that 8+ months out."

Yes. What is called "uniting" is more like "embalming." It is not for the purpose of beating the Republicans - it may make that less likely - it is for the purpose of putting down the growing insurgency within the party, because that threatened the insiders and power brokers.

44. 3 things
John Edwards is as good as it gets.

Obama did give a real "shout out" to Edwards and his people last night
he talked of poverty and the need to help the people of Katrina.

Betya if you went to New Orleans and helped out John Edwards would
be proud.

48. If Obmam or Clinton had been talking about poverty or helping people in New Orleans
6 months ago, I might believe they were sincere. Now, not so much.

Last night after our caucuses 3 of us old time lefties (all women of a certain age) were comiserating with each other. Here we are, we finally have not only a black man, but a white woman who could very well be the next president and the candidate we found to be best on our issues (after Kucinich) was the Southern white guy. Go figure.

49. 2 agreements and 1 slight twist...
1. I miss his vision, too, but it's time to move on to support the next best candidate, which is why...

2. I agree about Obama, and he's my new #1.

3. I AM in New Orleans and believe Obama will carry the city on Saturday, Feb. 9th in the Louisiana primary. Hillary's former home state of Arkansas is right next door to the north so North Louisiana (a mix of liberal Shreveport and conservative Monroe) will likely go her way. West Louisiana (near Lafayette and Lake Charles) tends to vote "carefully" and likely to back Hillary. That leaves Central Louisiana, which is a mix of liberal (nearer to Alexandria) and conservative (nearer to Baton Rouge). I don't know of any polls, but it should be an interesting benchmark for a reddish-purple Southern state (blue in 92 and 96, purple in 00, and red in 04) as opposed to the deep red rest of the USA's SE quadrant. The problem, of course, is that there are still WAY too many displaced New Orleanians who may not have re-registered to vote yet.

50. We must keep his message alive
We must do all we can to become active in anti-poverty issues. That includes also speaking out for the environment as well as they are both related. I sure hope Mr. Edwards will continue with his work in addressing poverty and pushing politicians to address this. That was why I voted for him in NJ yesterday, to have my voice heard and to send a message to the other two that there are those who vote on ISSUES and not media hype. I hope we will hear from John Edwards again.

I'm not inspired by Hillary or Barack. I am inspired by Bush, Cheney, McCain, Romney, Huckabee... you get the idea. Our country is at a crossroads. If Hil and Obama are mediocre or uninspiring, the Republican alternatives are catastrophically bad. We live in interesting times...
