There's something going on in the Republican primary
Did anyone expect Huckabee to win anything tonight? I thought he was only going to win Arkansas. I can't wait to see the delegate counts tomorrow.

1. He was expected to win some southern states---was ahead in polls for a while now.

3. I've had my eye on Huckabee for a while now. He has a lot more
going for him as a candidate for the Pugs than most here give him credit for.

8.  If he doesn't win this race he'd make a real good stand up
comic. Serious-he's funny

7. I think he's a perfect VP for them. Especially for McCain.
McCain needs it.

9. i think so too
but I think a Huckabee-McCain ticket is more formidable. Huckabee is too good a speaker to be on the back bench.

5. I don't know where you live, but muy guess is that it's not the South!
I would expect Huck to win ALL the deep southern states! 1. He's a Southerner and they like to stick together. 2. He's a Baptist preacher! If he didn't win here in the south, I'd suspect voter manipulation!!!!!!

I don't know what's going on down there. I thought he was in trouble after losing SC.

10. I lived almost 50 years of my life in Pa. We moved to SC in 1987,
then to TX. in 1992, and to Ga. in 2000. The South is another world! Especially the SE. They hate Dems, but if you ask them why, they don't know. There are a LOT of Evangelicals here, and they don't look at anything in a candidate except gun's, God, and gay's! A lot of people slammed Dean in 2000 for saying that, but he was right! This year, Huck is THEIR GUY!

11. They're all over the place. This is great.
I did think that Huckabee had a better shot in the southern states than he was given credit for, but I am kind of surprised he's doing so well... Romney, too, considering that the media had pretty much anointed McCain as the nominee.

Plus, I read that in West Virginia, McCain supporters, being in a minority, banded together with Huckabee supporters to stop Romney from winning the state. And Romney is pitching a fit over it.

I'm really enjoying this.

13. Karl Rove did PREDICT surprises....so, they rigged Romney out of contention.

And, threw a nod to Huckabee, so he can be the VP canidate to appease their religious fanatics.

14. Huckleberry might get big infusion of cash now
and start to put more pressure on McCain. I think the RW talk shows tomorrow will be suggesting as much. He's much closer to them than McCain, despite the fact that they hate his "populism." And they think they can control him better than McCain.

16. Republican strategy: Huck "blocks" for McCain --
Huck deflects Southern evangelicals, allowing "Maverick McCain" to move ahead of Romney & win Repub. nomination.

17. it's a large protest vote
people don't like either Romney or mccain, so huck was a safe harbour. I had him in Alabama and Georgia on my fantasy ballot.
