The Republican Nominee will HAVE TO WIN THE SOUTH to win the General Election.

Is Huckabee in a position to claim that VP slot on that basis?

3. McCain is not doing that badly--it's very close between him and Huck, which
means he won't necessarily need Huckster to hold the South for the GOP in November--and it would piss the base off even more if Huck was on the ticket. He might try to force it with his delegates, though.

5. Perhaps, but he did better than expected so McCain might be taking out the knives
Once Romney is disposed of, McCain is really going to attack Huckabee hard.

8. The surge of Huckleberry certainly opens up even larger splits in the Repub Party
The 'Huckleberry Effect' is in play --rightwing conservative fundamentalists are not going to vote for McCain.

11. I Sure Hope Not!
That means he gets to be President when McCain kicks the bucket.

If Huckabee gets to be President, I am soooo outahere!

14. Huckleberry a heartbeat from the Oval Office? Oh my.....
It certainly could galvanize the rightwing conservative fundamentalist voters who will not vote for McCain's ticket any other way.

15. I think the Florida Gov will be the GOP VP
He endorsed McCain just before the primary in FL and McCain will choose the VP since he is probably going to beat out Romney and Huckabee.

16. I'm listening to McCain right now
And I do believe you are right. Plus the talking heads have all been talking about McCain's regional weakness in the South.
