The contrast in speeches tonight is striking
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 12:33 AM by Atman
I watched Hillary's, and she was literally reading it. She glanced more at her prepared text than she did at the fawning crowds at her victory rally.

And now I watch Obama's, and the man is in the zone. He's speaking not from a notebook handed to him by his staff, but from his heart.

Now, I'm not so naive to think that he wasn't prepared. But it's different. Way different. He's prepared, but the words are real, what he believes, what's in his heart and soul, so they flow effortlessly.

By contrast, Hillary has to read what she's supposed to be feeling. Why can't she just let it flow, tell us what's really inside her the way Obama does? Why? Because she's a phony. She's in it to win it for the sake of winning it. It appears little else drives her. She's just supposed to win so she's acting the part.

But Obama is a man who is passionate about his message.

I'm proud that my 19 year old son and his friend went to the polls today, for their first presidential votes, and they both were excited to announce their votes for Obama. I wish Edwards had hung on, but I'll be happy to give Obama my vote in November.

(edited for typo)

1. We're seeing the light of a waxing moon and one that is waning.
We're seeing one campaign that is strengthening and another showing stress fractures visibly weakening its once iron grip.

Obama is a consistently fine speaker. No contest when compared to the others.

5. At least you were able to completely ignore what I posted.
I didn't say he was "yummy" or anything like it.

I said, Clinton had to READ HER SPEECH. Since she's supposedly been "ready since day one," shouldn't kind of have an inkling about what she's passionate about by now? Why does she still need these kind of prepared statements? Even if BO's are "prepared," they seem prepared from his very being, his core beliefs. Hillary is reading a script. If you still can't see that, then oh well.

I wasn't prepared to be an Obama supporter, but since JE dropped out I haven't had a second thought. No reservations at all. Obama is the ONLY route to change, even if it's won't be as radical as we want. At least it won't be just another tiring leg of the same long two-family journey.

8. I found Obama's speech somewhat lacking tonight.
It seemed a little redundant, having seen past speeches, and he just seemed exhausted.

That's a problem with these long-arsed campaigns. Who can keep coming-up with new material?
