The Democratic race is going to come down to race and gender.

1. Exactly. I think this is going to require a sober reflection of where we TRULY are as a society.
And why some of us have been getting upset about what we've called "supposed" racism and sexism up until now.

2. Why did Obama win all those white states tonight?
Get off the race crap. It is really unattractive to see Democrats trying to push it.

13. It is ugly and you make yourself look bad doing it - but, by all means, continue
since you like it.

3. No it won't. But race and gender will be used for excuses
When Obama takes Idaho, it is time to throw out old perceptions and start looking at the possibility that huge amounts of the population can have opinions on people for reasons other than race or gender.

6. I'm thinking it's more going to be age and income.
That is, if California is any indication.

I'm sure the best political minds will be furiously crunching the numbers and demographics in the next few days. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

We've had small contests up until now, but this is really coming down to race and gender.

I'm not really sure who is in a better position to fix it. I don't see Clinton taking African American votes away from Obama, and I don't see him taking white women and Hispanics from her.

I'm not a big advocate of Clinton/Obama and Obama/Clinton, since I think neither brings anything ideologically different to the ticket. But in terms of voters, he brings African Americans in for her, and she brings white women and Hispanics in for him.

9. I disagree with you! I'm a 64 yo white woman who voted for Obama today
in Ga. So did my husband who's a 65 yo white man. I didn't pay any attention to race or gender at all. I chose the candidate I thought would most likely be able to win in Nov. I like Hillary too, and if she is the Dem candidate, I will be happy to vote for her too. I know there are racists & feminists who will vote based upon race & gender, but I think they are a small minority.

A;; I really want is a Dem in the WH!

10. That's two elephants - (race and gender.) And theres two elephants you missed entirely -
income and age: the rich for Obama, the poor for Clinton, the youth for Obama, the old for Clinton. Of those four elephants, Clinton has three of the Democratic ones -- gender, income and age. Obama only has one - race.
