Scary thought - Huckabee as Vice President? |
|
Yesterday, I posted that I thought that Florida Gov. Charlie Crist would be McCain's choice for running mate. Although I still think that he would be a logical choice for McCain, trying to capture the "moderate" vote, there almost seems to be a strange love affair going on between McCain and Huckabee.
The very thought of this man anywhere near the seat of power scares the shit out of me. It's bad enough having someone with McCain's temper in control of the nuclear football. But the fact that Huckabee would be one heart attack or stroke away from the presidency is pretty damned frightening in its own way. The fact that he's still giving fucking sermons - not simply political speeches - in churches is scary as hell. This man actually believes all this bullshit. I have no doubt that much of his policies would be guided by his religious beliefs, and that he would try as hard as possible to conform America to his morality. I don't want anyone as President who thinks that Israel and the United States are "God's chosen nations".

4. You people do not understand! Another poster |
|
said it best when he/she surmised that CA,NY,MA,NJ,CT,DC will break for dems. The south is a problem and Huck will clean up down there.
Do not underestimate the power of the evangelical vote and the fact that repubs when it is all said and done will put ANYONE in office other than Hillary, I don't care what they are saying about McCain.

6. Yes they would look that way to us. But they would carry every southern state |
|
and (includes WV). The R's run on God, Guns, Flags and hatred for Gay people. McCain is carrying the flag and guns and Huckabee is carrying the cross and bible and appeals to the hate crowd.

8. Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large groups |
|
Every Jim Henry (he's a evangelical with a HUGE church in Orlando) type preacher would be exhorting their congregations to vote for Huckabee and against the godless Democrats.
We already know how much they hate Hillary.
While they claim to be okay with Obama, as soon as he's the nominee, they'll be smearing his name, bringing up the false accusations of him being a Muslim (as if that would be a bad thing), etc.

7. I think it will be Romney |
|
Northeast AND Mormon country. A nod to (some of) the religious right. Looks the part (in an average, non-descript, white male suit kind of way).

9. How powerful is the Mormon vote? |
|
Utah would be a lock for Romney - but could he count on a large Mormon vote in other areas?
I'm just curious, is all.

10. Looking at the map Mitt would be the good choice to secure the mountain states |
|
but I don't think McCain and he like each other much at all
I think it will be Huckabee because it throws a bone to the bible thumpers and to the sout. The dems won't contest much there anyway seeing as the Repubs ARE the party of the south and that's about it now.

12. Yeah, but face it -- it's not nearly as scary as Dubya Bush as president |
|
and Dick Cheney behind him.
The American people have already put up with worse, and those two gangsters weren't even elected.
