How's That Kennedy/Kerry Endorsement Working Out? |
|
I think it is very telling that Clinton still won Massachusetts even with those two endorsing Obama. We ought to load all of the dead weight of the party on to the good ship Obama and let them all go down together.
The Lion opened his mouth to roar and his teeth fell out.

|
to be a state where Obama got a decent amount of delegates. Obama closed the gap from 37 to 15. Kerry & Kennedy were worth 22 points. Not bad at all.
But I understand why the Hillary people are spinning Mass., dissing Kerry & Kennedy. It's all they've got.

20. Have you not seen the media? You could not swing a dead cat |
|
without hitting negative distortions and attacks against Clinton. She was not positioned to win.
Everyone predicted that Obama's momentum would clean her clock...and he did not.
I am pleasantly surprised. It shows me that the American spirit is alive and well and we are still fighting against the propaganda machine that sent Bush to the white house twice.

I watched the daily constant attacks on Clinton by nearly everyone.
For her to still be standing after that--shows an amazing American spirit. For the fact that she won, despite everything that was thrown at her the past couple of weeks--she deserves a standing ovation.

polls that showed her WAY AHEAD in Mass. and other states. Sorry, she performed lower than expectations. She did not surge anywhere, and Obama did have a surprise upset in Conn. right next to NY.

44. I had no illusions that Obama would win Mass. EVER. And don't |
|
call me an "Obamabot". I am no hack, and call things as I see them. The fact is Mass. was a Hillary stronghold. She had ALL THE RIGHT ENDORSEMENTS back in the spring of '07 in Mass: did you forget Barney Frank? And half the State House? And the mayors? All those folks got the vote out. They were highly organized. Kerry knew what he was doing when he endorsed Obama -- he knew the odds were against an Obama win in Mass. But I think his endorsment of Obama is sincere. So if it means everyone will trash him for the next week, fine. He followed his conscience to endorse Obama.
Incidentally, here in Georgia, Hillary had the Machine (the old civil rights guard in Atlanta), but then stepped in it with her MLK gaffe and Bill's unfortunate remarks in SC. Atlanta's mayor endorsed Obama, and everything shifted Obama's way. So late in the game, GA was like MA. Did Hillary tighten it? No. Did Obama tighten the Mass. race? Yes.
Hillary is relying on her early lead, and is not getting new votes.

Doesn't change the fact that this is pretty emblematic of the Obama run as a whole; close, but no cigar. A loss is till a loss; whether it is by 5 or 55 doesn't really matter all that much.

They helped make up huge vote margin deficits, keeping Obama in a near-tie on the delegate count and with a massive funding war chest to move forward.

But who really expected it? I didn't. Clinton was always winning Massachusetts except for one poll where they tied. It would have been a nice upset, but it wasn't.
