well, I went to my caucus in CO last night |
|
it was very interesting, especially as I've not been to one before. I got there really early, which I heard was good, as parking was tight and sometimes only available at quite a distance. I tried to help people find the rooms that their caucus was in, as it was held in my daughter's high school, so I am familiar with the layout.
Our group was probably 65% for Obama. It was interesting to watch the Hillary supporters. They are really passionate about their candidate. Now, as for myself, I was really a JE supporter, but I didn't want to "waste" a vote on him. I just think that Hillary has much less of a chance of winning than Obama.
I signed up to be a delegate at the county thing being held next month. I also found it very interesting that we voted on a couple of resolutions to be added by the Dems.
1- a resolution for health care- sorry, don't remember the H # 2- a resolution to IMPEACH Bush and Cheney! This brought loud cheers from my group.
All in all, it was a fun night! I befriended an older lady, named "Schookie" who was an avid Hillary fan. She was quite a character and gave a very impassioned plea for votes for Hillary, stressing how much 'experience' Hillary has. I gave her a hard time when she had to go smoke a cigarette before caucus reminding her that she needed to be at least 100 feet away from the school. I told her where the kids go to smoke- only about 1/2 mile out the door!
It is really nice to see people care so much about the future of their country.

What part of the state? I'm a native of Colorado Springs with family all over the state.

2. West Arvada- specifically Arvada West High |
|
but I grew up in Lakewood. I am a second generation native and my parents were high school sweethearts from Wheat Ridge High.

3. Ah, yes. The Wheat Ridge Farmers. (are they still called that?) |
|
My sister lived in Lakewood for 20 years; my nephew (her son) still does.
I worked at the Denver Federal Center while in college and grew to know the area quite well.

4. yep, they are! Although they have a nice, newer building across from Crown Hill Park |
|
I work on the grounds of the Fed Center- at the Post Office and my high school had their graduation at Red Rocks- it was so cool. The Fed Center is going to change, though- they are building a new St. Anthony's hospital there. I love Colorado Springs, too- it is so pretty. My stepdaughter lived down there for a couple of years. I don't like all of the traffic, though- for that matter in the entire state.
