Is the predominance of female voters in the Dem primaries typical for primaries? |
|
I note 55/45 to 60/40 ratios for female/male voters in most Democratic primaries. Is this what might be considered obvious, females voting for Hillary or, is this more typical of past Democratic primaries (or some other explanation). I don't see this trend in the Republican primaries.

1. it's a direct result of Hillary's candidacy |
|
She's bringing out more women than usual, who are typically in the majority in the Democratic primaries, but not 60-40 or numbers near that.

3. That's not entirely true, women have voted more than men for the last decade or thereabouts. |
|
I can get a link if you want. Hillary is of course probably bringing out more of them, but it's just following a trend that has been going on for a decade or two.
Women only recently passed men as actually getting out and voting here in the USA, they always took the back seat until the last decade.

2. Yep, women, for the last decade or so, have come out and voted in higher numbers than men. |

In both the primaries and the GE.

4. This applies more to Democratic women voters? |
|
Thanks for your comment. I don't see the same trend in the Repub primaries.
I looked back at South Carolina. 61/39 female but, in this case Obama still won, due to heavy AA turnout. So, it's not impossible for Obama to win, despite more women voting, but I think it's potentially a roadblock to Obama ever catching Clinton in the delegate count. We'll learn more in the coming weeks. Will cash on hand be a factor, debates etc.?
