Proxy Conservatives GO HOME!
I've noticed an increase lately of people picking up right wing forwards, blog posts, and message board commments -- especially anti-Hillary screeds -- and reposting them here, as if they were their own.

This is disgusting behavior. If you are doing this, then you are a conservative by proxy. You're dumping their hateful filth in our living room. I'm an Obama supporter, but this is unspeakably ugly to me. No true Democrat, no true liberal, no true progressive, can engage in this kind of behavior and keep their self-respect or have any of ours. FReepspeech like this is riddled with lies, twisted language, and venomous rhetoric that spreads misinformation and hate. Oppose whatever candidate you wish, but use your own words, your own perceptions, and support from real, non-FReeper sites. Anything less makes you just another Karl Rove.

K&R this post if you want to send a message to FReeps in DU clothing that their tactics are not welcome here!

2. You should see what gets posted on Obama's web site
in the blogs. there are direct quotes from neocons, anti-clinton of course, and vile, venomous hatred. It's like a snake pit. The campaign should put a stop to it.

17. The campaign should have had a trap door
Something like BarackIs44.com - that would have taken care of it. :eyes:

3. I notice many bash-only. knr.
They disguise themselves through bashing one candidate, not supporting the other. Just hits. No Party support. No Puke bashing.

13. Speaks volumes for their campaign
I've never been so turned off by a campaign or a candidate as I have with hers and her supporters.

15. If Dems lose in November, I will blame you and everyone else who'd rather insult
fellow Dems than actually do any good. I am so fucking sick of this shit. I don't care whether Hillary or Obama gets the nomination at this point, I have my reservations about both candidates. It's their fanatic followers (on BOTH sides) who are making me sick to my stomach.

7. agreed.
We've seen some real RW trash posted here by both sides. Fortunately I think we've done a fairly good job of self-policing, but there's no excuse for this crap being posted in the first place.

9. I have noticed this too
And the ones posting this propaganda are no better then the ones they fight against. What are they trying to prove posting this stuff? Do they think the few people that come here and share similar beliefs are gonna make a difference in the voting world? What is the strategy of these people? Do they just want a continuous fight on DU and disrupt the boards? It's very sad to think what motivates these people.

11. I agree, but why single out the Obama Freepers. There are certainly DOZENS of Hillary Freepers
posting here and spamming the board daily.

Neither sides should be supported here, IMO, and if we all either spoke out, alerted, or just ignored them instead of responding, perhaps they'd get the message and go away.

14. Frankly, there are volumes of Hillary freepscreeds out there, and relatively little for Obama.
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 10:17 AM by calmblueocean
I just see more anti-Hillary rants cut'n'pasted from right wing sites than I see about Obama.

Honestly, Obama doesn't seem to inspire the kind of passionate, lengthy, detailed, personal hate attacks that Hillary, for whatever reasons, does. It's one of the reasons I support him, but I'm not going to let people be persuaded against his competition by right wing nastiness if I can help it.

21. I totally agree- it is bad on both sides
after attemding caucus the other night, I came back with the impression that it was the Hillary supportors (at least in CO, where I was) who had been drinking the koolaid. They even had signs in the room- which was a violation of the Democratic rules.

I have never found those posts to be credible. Just a way of deliberately spreading shit.

19. Proxy Conservative ?
I got your "Proxy Conservative" right here:

* FOR IWR

* FOR Kyle/Lieberman

* SUPPORTS forcing the "Oil Law" benchmark on Iraq

* Unlimited and Unqualified support for the Right Wing Likud government in Israel

* Refuses to join 150 other civilized nations in banning Land Mines

* FOR MORE Free(sic) Trade

* INCREASE Defense Budget

* EXPAND the Military

* INCREASE programs to import low wage foreign "guest" workers

* INCREASE Corporate Welfare (taxpayer subsidies to Health INSURANCE Industry)

* AGAINST Single Payer Universal HealthCare

* Combat Troops Fighting IN Iraq INDEFINITELY

* Free and Open Access to the White House for Corporate Lobbyists (Proudly)

Now THATS a "Proxy Conservative".

Being against cluster bombs is right wing? How do you figure that?

22. There's nothing wrong with making a heartfelt, reasoned argument against any candidate
But that's not what people are doing when they're cut'n'pasting right wing rants. It's primarily a lazy way to make an argument -- people posting don't even know what is true in the crap they're posting, and what isn't, and the freepscreeds are filled with distortions and lies as well as contempt for ALL Democrats, and for progressive principles. Honestly, if you're trolling FR or other right wing sites looking for anti-whoever talking points, you're not even interested in making your own argument. You don't need any help to speak for yourself.
